I would like to have a thumbnail image along with the title of the post; posts are listed on the sidebar. For the actual post, I am using default editor; I am using the gallery format and have half a dozen pictures in that gallery on the top of the post. There is a single image, in the text box, at the bottom of the post, and it is that one I choose to be the featured image. That image does show up on the listing of posts in the ‘all posts’ page, but not on the home page, or blog page, along with the listing title. What am I doing wrong? Thanks. -Ken

Could you provide us with a link to the site in question so that we can take a closer look please?

If you set the post format to gallery, it will remove the featured image then replace it with the post gallery. You should set the post format to standard if you want to show the featured image instead of the gallery. Use the theme’s gallery shortcode.

IsmaelNovember 10, 2015 at 5:32 am #533038Thanks…When I change the post format to standard, the featured image now shows up in the post, to the left of the post title, but it does not show up in the sidebar post listing along with the post title, which is what I am after. Not sure what you mean by use the shortcode….I know what the shortcode is, just not sure what to do with it….

quite difficult to imagine what you want to achieve. Can you highlight using screenshots your intentions please? you can use imgur.com or dropbox.

one image is of the home page, and you’ll see on the right sidebar a listing of posts. I would like to have a small thumbnail from each post with the title on this homepage
the other image is of the post itself. This is in standard format, as opposed to gallery format, which I prefer, but may need to go this way as suggested; but, as you can see, the featured image is up in the left corner of the post; but, it is not showing on the homepage sidebar…
November 13, 2015 at 2:35 pm #535385Hey!
are you using “Recent Posts” widget for this? if yes this is standard WordPress behavior. If you want to change this you would need to search a plugin with such a function or ask in general WordPress forum.
Cheers!
AndyNovember 13, 2015 at 3:37 pm #535452Yes, I am using recent posts widget; so, are you saying having an image along side the title of the post in the recent post widget sidebar is standard behavior, or not having an image there is standard behavior?
November 13, 2015 at 4:02 pm #535473Hey!
as it is now is standard WordPress behavior. Check it when you activate a default WordPress theme.
Cheers!
AndyNovember 13, 2015 at 4:07 pm #535479so, if it is standard WP behavior, how come it is not showing up on mine?
November 13, 2015 at 4:19 pm #535491Hi!
as it is right now on your website is standard WordPress behavior.
Best regards,
AndyNovember 13, 2015 at 4:22 pm #535494I’m sorry, I don’t get it. You are saying the featured image showing up with the title on the widget sidebar is standard behavior; and yet, I am not seeing that featured image there, why not?
November 13, 2015 at 5:20 pm #535532Hi!
I didn’t say that. I said: as it is right now for you is standard WordPress behavior (without any thumbnail on your sidebar widget).
Cheers!
