    Hi,

    We are in the process of migrating our website from the domain mediteraistockholm.se to a new domain meditationistockholm.se

    However, when I log into wordpress and activate the Enfold theme at the new domain, I get a fatal error.

    None of the plugins are activated so I don’t know what the problem is.

    The customer service at our hoster (one.com) insist they cannot help and that we need to contact Enfold support.

    Could someone please have a look for us?

    Btw we have an Enfold theme and a developer created a Enfold Child theme for us last year and we get an error message when activating either of these templates.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the login details. I have a site hosted with one.com as well, and I’ve never had any problems with running Enfold on it: https://wpexpert.se/enfold/. It’s currently running the latest version of the theme (4.8.3). Could you try uploading a fresh copy of the theme to see if that helps please?

    If you should have any further problem; are we allowed to activate Enfold in order to see the actual problem on your site?

    Hi Rikard,

    Thanks very much for your reply.

    It turns out we were running Enfold 4.8.2, but I have updated to 4.8.3 now.

    However, we are still getting the same Fatal Error message when we activate the theme.

    Grateful for any advice on how to fix this.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update. Could you try to use a PHP version which is lower than the one you are currently using? You could try 7.4 for example. If that doesn’t help, then please share FTP login details with us in private as well.

    Thanks very much for your reply.

    I tried changed to PHP 7.4, but unfortunately we are still getting a fatal error message when I select the Enfold theme.

    If you have time, it would be great if you have a closer look at this since we don’t know how to fix this at the moment.

    After activating the Enfold theme at the new domain (meditationistockholm.se), the site should like our current site at mediteraistockholm.se if everything is working correctly.

    Once the new site is working correctly we will then set up a redirect sending people from mediteraistockholm.se to meditationistockholm.se.

    Hi,

    Thanks for that. I had a look at the themes folder, and it seems to have folders and files which are not supposed to be there. Did you copy this site over from another server maybe? I’m not sure if these files are causing the problem or not, but cleaning up the themes folder might be a good idea. Are we allowed to do that?

    If you are building this site from scratch, then it might be a good idea to simply delete everything, and start with a fresh WordPress installation.

    The site was copied from the same server at one.com

    Yes, please do clean up the themes folder as I am unsure how to do that myself.

    Regarding your question about if we are building our site from scratch: we are not doing that, we are just trying to migrate the whole site to a new domain name. But unfortunately it has more difficult that I anticipated.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update and clarification. If you want content from another site, then moving the WordPress installation is pretty much unnecessary. I would suggest that you delete everything, then install a clean WordPress installation to begin with. After that you can use a migration plugin, or the import/export functionality in WordPress, to move content from the other site. If you still want us to remove things on your current installation, then we can do that, but it might be easier to simply start fresh.

    I followed your advice and the migration has been completed correctly now. I used the plugin All in one WP Migration (paid version).
