External Link via Post when website ends in .html

Hi there,

I’ve been able to successfully create posts that open to an external link, but am having difficulty using sources like the NYT, where their articles end in .html. Ex: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/14/travel/future-hotel-design-virus.html

When I add the link to the post, the post automatically embeds the NYT’s feature image and the link open the blog entry of the feature image, instead of linking directly to the new site. I tried to use a link shortener but that also didn’t work.

Please advise!
