Hi,
I’ve excluded my page imprint (Impressum) and data protection (Datenschutzerklärung) of my website from appearing in the search results by making this Yoast SEO settings:
Allow search engines to show this Page in search results? No
Should search engines follow links on this Page? No
Nevertheless, when I type my domain name in the search field of Google, the second search result is the imprint of my website.
How can I fix this?
Best regards,
zizibe1
Hey zizibe1,
Unfortunately Google views these settings or “rules” as a “suggestion”
Try going to your Google Search Console and use the “Remove URL Tool” you can read more about it here
Best regards,
Mike
Hey Mike,
Thank you for your prompt reply and the link.
The URL removal tool is intended as a first step for content that you urgently need blocked—for example, if it contains confidential data that was accidentally exposed. Using the tool for other purposes might cause problems for your site.
According to this, I shouldn’t use this tool to exclude my imprint from appearing in the search results. Probably it’s better to leave it as it is.
What do you think?
Best regards,
zizibe1
Hi,
Yes, it might be best to leave it. You could always add a link or button to the top to direct people to the page you want them to see. Unless there is anything else we can assist with on this issue, shall we close this then?
Best regards,
Mike
