    WHat am I missing? I have tried several scenarios with no luck getting a sidebar.
    Also noticed the page itself is a mess.

    You can use this plugin and create your events page using shortcodes and add a sidebar – https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar-shortcode/

    Hey!

    Yes, it’s possible. You need to modify the default-template.php inside the config-events-calendar > views folder. Add the get_sidebar function.
