When I go to DASHBOARD > APPEARANCE > CUSTOMISE, I get an error page. The message reads: ‘There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.’
(The website is functioning okay. Just this admin page I cannot reach.)
In my admin email inbox, the message says:

Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.
- Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
- Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
- Click ” Create New “.
- Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( to be sure that we have enough time to debug ). - Click ” Submit “.
- You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.
When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create an admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.Best regards,

September 11, 2020 at 6:20 am #1245060Hi Stephen,
Thanks for giving us admin access.
I have inspected it and used the Health Check & Troubleshooting to try to deactivate plugin without affecting other users however I still could not point out the issue.
Can you create a staging site? so we can inspect further without affecting your live site.
Basically it’s just a clone of your site placed in your subdomain so it has the same environment for testing purposes.
Here’s a simple tutorial you can follow: https://themeisle.com/blog/wordpress-staging-site/
Once done, please upgrade it to Enfold 4.7.6.3, then give us admin access on it.Best regards,

September 14, 2020 at 5:07 am #1245622Hi envato99,
Thanks for giving us admin access.
It seems WordPress 5.5.1 and Enfold 4.7.3 has some compatibility issue.
Once it’s updated to 4.7.6.3 it worked properly.Best regards,
NikkoSeptember 14, 2020 at 12:10 pm #1245728Okay thanks. I’ll update it at the weekend.
September 14, 2020 at 12:20 pm #1245733Hi envato99,
You’re welcome.
The staging site is already updated and you should see it working properly.Best regards,
NikkoSeptember 15, 2020 at 11:04 pm #1246126Nikko,
How do I update to 4.7.6.3?
I don’t see any available updates in my WordPress dashboard.
Thanks,
Stephen.September 16, 2020 at 11:00 am #1246256Hi Stephen,
Go to Enfold > Theme Update, there’s should be the button to update there.
If none, then most likely you’ll need to Enter a valid Envato private token.Best regards,
NikkoSeptember 20, 2020 at 12:16 am #1247022Nikko
I went to Enfold > Theme Update – it said I have the most recent version.

September 21, 2020 at 3:14 am #1247213Hi envato99,
Can you try to install this plugin: https://envato.com/market-plugin/ and see if it helps with updating.
If that’s not working then please do this method:
- Login to ThemeForest and download the Enfold theme.
- Right-click over the downloaded zip file and extract/unzip it.
- It should generate a new folder, open it and look for the enfold folder
- Right-click the enfold folder then zip it, here’s a tutorial on how to create a zip file in windows: https://www.howtogeek.com/668409/how-to-zip-and-unzip-files-on-windows-10/ (this should create enfold.zip)
- Log in to WordPress as Admin and put the site in maintenance mode.
- Go to Appearance > Themes.
- Switch to a default WordPress Theme like TwentyTwenty and delete Enfold theme.
- Click on the ADD NEW button.
- Click on the UPLOAD THEME button.
- Click BROWSE and choose enfold.zip file
- Click the INSTALL NOW button
Best regards,
NikkoSeptember 23, 2020 at 6:01 pm #1247938Thanks Nikko. I’ll look at it on Saturday.
September 24, 2020 at 3:29 am #1248021Hi envato99,
You’re welcome :)
Just let us know if you need further assistance.Best regards,
NikkoSeptember 26, 2020 at 1:18 pm #1248649Nikko
I installed the envato plugin and tried to install the ENFOLD theme update.
However, the update failed.
I do not want to delete the existing theme even for a short while.
Is there any other method to solve this problem?
Thanks
Stephen
September 27, 2020 at 11:40 am #1248768Hi Stephen,
If you share FTP login details in private then we can upload it manually for you. Also please renew the token for the site in question, and the ones you posted previously are not working anymore.
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 27, 2020 at 1:18 pm #1248778Rikard — login details below.
September 27, 2020 at 1:25 pm #1248780Rikard,
Can someone also plaease tell me what is the exact problem here?
Why do I need an Envato token?
Is this going to be a problem again next time I need to update the theme?
Thanks
Stephen
September 28, 2020 at 2:55 pm #1248999Hi Stephen,
At the moment we could not yet actually pinpoint the cause of the issue however we’re trying to isolate the cause of the issue in order to fix the problem.
The envato token is needed for theme registration and theme updates, it is used to connect with envato and notification for the latest release of the theme.
It shouldn’t be an issue for the next theme udpate.
Can we request again for temporary admin access on the staging site? since the previous one already expired.Best regards,

September 28, 2020 at 2:58 pm #1249003Nikko — unfortunately I deleted the staging site. I will make a new on on Saturday.

September 29, 2020 at 6:59 pm #1249475I am receiving a similar message. I am running Enfold 4.7.5 and php 7.3.22 which are apparently the latest versions when I revalidate my token. However I still cannot get beyond this error message when I click /Appearance/Customise ? Please help as I really need to be able to access /Customise . Thanks
September 30, 2020 at 4:41 am #1249556Hi WoodhouseCoffeeCo,
Can you create a separate thread and provide us with temporary admin details with it?
Make sure the admin credentials are posted in Private Content, so it’s not visible to the public and visible only to all moderators as well as the one who created the thread.Best regards,
NikkoOctober 3, 2020 at 3:14 pm #1250331Nikko,

Thanks for that. I installed the latest version of the theme on your staging site, and the customizer is working as it should after that. Please review your site.
Best regards,
RikardOctober 5, 2020 at 11:48 am #1250567Hi Rikard,
When I check THEME OPTIONS > THEME UPDATE, it says ‘No Updates available. You are running the latest version! (4.7.3)’.
[I have tried to update manually before but I had a problem with the Envato token – see above.]
Thanks,
Stephen.
October 6, 2020 at 6:39 am #1250707Hi Stephen,
I have checked it and it says this:
No Updates available. You are running the latest version! (4.7.6.3)Download Package URL: Errorcode 404 returned by Envato: Not Found: - description: The purchase you have requested is not downloadable at this time.: - Possible cause: your download limit might be exceeded - please try again later. Download Package URL: A problem occurred accessing your download link. Unable to perform update. Following Envato package errors occurred: Enfold - Request for Download URL failed.
Can you give us a list of that token’s permission? so we can try to evaluate it.
Best regards,
NikkoOctober 6, 2020 at 10:31 am #1250793Hi Nikko,
The token permissions were set to the ones recommended by Kriesi on the help page. I don’t remember exactly.
Stephen.
