    Hi,

    are there any known issues with the internal WP search when using the left sided main navigation in Enfold?

    When using a top navigation the search works fine. But when we switch to the left side navigation it seems like we get _all_ pages as search results, even if the page doesn’t contain the search keywords.

    Hi Rikard,

    we’ve recreated a test setup.
    Try this URL based search for instance: https://www.436.wp.myonoffice.com/?s=zahlungsabwicklung

    Most of the search results do not contain the search term within the page content.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

    According to the documentation, this is how the default search logic works.

    – Full sentence matches in post titles.
    – All search terms in post titles.
    – Any search terms in post titles.
    – Full sentence matches in post content.

    Each section and any remaining posts are then sorted by date.

    So when you search for the keyword “zahlungsabwicklung”, it returns the page with the title “Zahlungsabwicklung”, then appended the remaining pages/posts sorted by date even if they don’t exactly match the search.

    If you want to improve the search option, try to install search plugins like Relevanssi or WP Search and index the database so that the search returns more relevant results.

    Thanks for your answer, Ismael.
    The problem is, that the search behavior doesn’t work in this case like the logic you quoted. In my example the search returns pages which do not contain the search term at all – not even close. On the other hand the search doesn’t find existing terms in several pages. This only happens when I use the left sided navigation.

    It does return the page with the title “Zahlungsabwicklung”, and since there are no more pages related to the keyword, it appends the remaining posts or pages sorted by date even if they don’t exactly match the keyword.
