Hello,
I just did a speed comparison on Google page speed insights and I got a very bad result for my MOBILE site:
https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?hl=de&url=https%3A%2F%2Fblueprojecthero.com%2F&tab=mobileBut the DESKTOP version is doing better.
Can you please tell me why the mobile view is sooo slow?
Any suggestions to improve?br, Markus

The mobile PageSpeed value says 75/100 for me – which is quite good.
You should not aim for having a super high score there. No reason in my opinion. This score says nothing about loading time of your website. You better focus on this result here and might consider to compress the CSS files (be careful as it might break parts of your site):

Cheers

sometimes it is saying 44/100 points when I am analyzing the mobile site.
However, why do you recommended compressing CSS files? I do not see any KPI on this webpagetest.org for CSS compression?
Do you mean the google fonts css?
br, MarkusNovember 18, 2019 at 11:42 am #1157803No – but Google PageSpeed insights says that two of the CSS files are quite heavy.
So it could make sense to minify them in order to have a better loading time of your site.November 18, 2019 at 11:57 am #1157819I am already using the plugin WP Super Minify (and WP Super cache) to minify CSS and JS.
That should be enought right?November 19, 2019 at 5:38 am #1158019Hi Markus,
The results for mobile are almost always slower on GPSI, the reason as far as I know it, is that they test the speed on a simulated mobile network. They are most likely not real world numbers in other words. If you are looking for services to test your speed with then you can refer to this article: tools for checking WordPress performance and page load speed. Most of those services will give you advice on how to improve the speed of your site.

thanks, but e.g. kriesi.at is performing quite good on mobile on GPSI. So it should be reachable with my site too.
br, MarkusNovember 20, 2019 at 6:07 am #1158362Hi Markus,
Just because two sites are using the same theme doesn’t mean that they will perform exactly the same. There are many different factors involved, the most important factor is likely hosting. We have a dedicated server for our site for example, what hosting is your site on? Other factors which play in are also what and how many plugins are used on the the site, and customisations done to the theme, if any. If you are using scripts from Facebook, Youtube, Twitter etc then that will play in as well. When improving speed for a WordPress site, the work involved is not the same on all sites, every site needs to be treated individually.

RikardFebruary 12, 2020 at 2:41 pm #1183892Hello,
Did something happen in the latest versions of the theme because now our sites built in Enfold have worse results than ever.
I had one page that only got 1 on the scale for mobile. It is better now after adding cache plugin, but still I was worried when I read that Enfold had the second slowest loading time
https://internetfolks.com/fastest-wordpress-themes/#how-fast-is-enfold
are you working with more performance options in the theme?
What do you recommend to do more to get a better result in GPI?Best regards, Sara

Did you read my last post in this thread? If you need help then we need something to work with.

RikardFebruary 15, 2020 at 8:07 am #1184690*** If you’ve updated to v4.7.3 check your mobile score on Google PageSpeed Insights ***
Hi,
I’m having the same problem with the mobile speed. I’m seeing a 40-50 MOBLIE point drop on google PageSpeed. After rolling the installation back several times I’ve narrowed it down to the Enfold v4.7.3 update. No amount of cache clearing makes any difference but it’s always fixed when I roll back to v4.7.2 all else being EXACTLY the same. The desktop is also slightly slower.
Update: The page taking the biggest hit is my homepage which is the only page that has LayerSlider WP. I’m still testing other pages that use different features. Note: My website and CDN is re-caching at the moment but under normal circumstances that only drops the PageSpeed score maybe 10 points or temporary timeouts in PageSpeed until the process is complete. I have a fairly robust VPS with far more resources than I need; I usually consume 5% of my resources during a cache rebuild and nothing is running on the VPS other than one WP installation.
2nd Update: I manually updated Enfold via FTP. Check for errors in the CPanel log and the WP logs, nothing. Checked phpAdmin not seeing anything abnormal so far.

February 16, 2020 at 5:18 am #1184921Hi corefocusgroup,
Your site loads in just over half a second according to this test: https://tools.pingdom.com/#5c12ffb0d4800000. Is the Google PSI important to you just to have a high score or are you more interested in having a fast site?

RikardFebruary 16, 2020 at 1:18 pm #1184967When someone sees a 40-50 point drop on PageSpeed is it wrong to ask a question or to inquire about a potential problem? Real world speed is the most important but on the other hand Google keeps a tight grip on how it rates for SEO. No impressions, no traffic. Tell me I’m wrong.
I’m still evaluating what is happening but it appears that Google has made some adjustments to Lighthouse. I’m seeing very different reports in the results now, like pre-load. Obviously someone else saw this PageSpeed issue before me. Eventually other people will notice and inquire about a potential Enfold performance issue. Maybe I just saved you some time and effort.
Either way, thanks for the response. This is an awesome theme.
February 17, 2020 at 5:46 am #1185091Hi corefocusgroup,
No it’s not wrong to ask if you see a drop like that, but I don’t think the theme is to blame if your actual site loads really quickly. Why you are getting such a drop in your score can really only be answered by Google, we don’t have any insight as to how they rate and classify sites.
But I can tell you this; speed is not everything, and your Google PSI score likely doesn’t mean much when it comes to your actual SERP results. I personally own a site which is super fast and stable, but I’m being outranked on basically all the main keywords and phrases by a site which is kind of slow and sluggish.
Best regards,
RikardFebruary 17, 2020 at 9:54 am #1185132It seems that the Google Lighthouse adjustments just happened to coincide with your latest update. False alarm.
Thanks for the response.
