I am posting blogs….and in my blog I want to put an excerpt then a “read more” option so people can see the rest of the post.
For some reason when I put in the read more option i see a dashed line that comes across the screen in the Avia layout builder…but when i go to preview the post….it is as if …..the read more is not working at all. How is this possible?August 10, 2016 at 5:20 am #670610Preview mode shows the entire article…but once you post it, your blog page will show just the excerpt prior to the “read more” tag.. at least that’s my experience.
August 10, 2016 at 5:34 am #670617Oh wow. In my enfold theme….if i put read more in the avia layout editor….it shows up in the editor…but not when the blog post is published. It’s so weird.

AndyJune 14, 2019 at 11:16 am #1110274Hello,
I want on the articles section to have a preview of the article with read more link, but is not working.
As you can see in the link provided, articles are not truncated.
I tried to add functions that I found on your website support section in functions.php but nothing is working.
On the blog page, I added blog element, and in settings at content length I have “Extras with read more link”
Can you help me please with a solution for this problem? I dont want to add manualy read more in each article.Thank you,
June 14, 2019 at 7:46 pm #1110446Hi theslym,
This is the category page. It is not ruled by the settings on the blog page.
Here is how you can customize it:

VictoriaJune 15, 2019 at 1:22 pm #1110654Hi Victoria,
Indeed with the plugin, articles section works as I want. But then it appear another problem. Complete website is built on a directory plugin which is compatible with Enfold.
In the first link from private content, this is a companies category where it is supposed to appear listed companies. But now I have readmore link and no company appear.I used “Disable On:” function of the Advanced Excerpt plugin, but nothing works.
So basicaly I must add some functions in function.php that will apply Read more link only on the blog section/articles section.
This is not a Directory plugin problem. This is because on Enfold is a bug and is not working Read more link when you apply it in settings.
What do you think?
Thank you!
June 18, 2019 at 11:33 am #1111268Hi theslym,
The read more link will apply if you use the classic editor to build posts, but with the Advanced Layout Builder you need to add the link manually since the setting of the WordPress will not apply to it. It is not a bug, it is built to work like that.
And so the plugin cannot really apply to the Advanced Layout Builder functionality.

VictoriaJanuary 5, 2020 at 5:49 am #1170425Ok so I have the same problem. Just using the classic editor the read more tag works. but within the Advanced layout Builder provided by Enfold it does not. Now I have a client attempt to write her own blogs and she has hundreds of articles. I finally, after five years got her to move from wordpress.com to her own site with enfold and well she is not liking the more bar not working. She does not having the training or desire to learn how to do shortcodes or edit in html mode. I found using the excerpt option I can past the HMTL code and it looks good, but that is so much harder for her. Do I really need to tell her to use the classic editor instead of the enfold one which is why I wanted her to change to her own site?
January 5, 2020 at 7:33 pm #1170504Hi JosephBoy,
Well, the Read more tag does not work with the Advanced Layout Builder. She can use the Classic editor and use the Magic wand tool to use the themes shortcodes.
Best regards,
