We host on Site Ground and utilize their SG Optimizer for caching. When we have this enabled the Enfold Theme options do not display or function properly as the CSS & JS files do not load.
Has anyone had issues with this?
April 27, 2018 at 6:00 am #947641Hey trudiligence,
Sorry I have not seen anything regrading this, but I do see that the plugin allows you to exclude URLs from the cache, perhaps if you exclude /wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia/ & /wp-content/themes/enfold/jsBest regards,
MikeApril 27, 2018 at 6:19 pm #948077@mike – thank you for your response but so far no go on solving the problem. I am sure it is the caching plugin by SG as enfold on my local and other server has zero issues. Even adding the exclude doesn’t work.
Waiting to hear from SG.
April 27, 2018 at 11:41 pm #948227This is not an SG issue. You have to ask yourself, “what has changed?” The answer is Enfold. We’ll see how this plays out, but I believe Enfold has stepped outside its comfort zone. Themes should NOT overstep this far into the performance side of things. Rather, they should aim to optimize the code.
I recommend you turn off all 3 levels (depending on your plan) of caching on SG. Test you site speed page loading time (do not look at the grade) and test that all of your Enfold elements are working. Starting with enabling Memcache, repeat the process. Then work your way through SG’s other caching levels.
You may find you don’t want to be on Enfold 4.3. You may find you don’t need certain levels of the SG caching.
As someone that works heavily with SG and Enfold, this is how I would approach it. That said, there is no way in hell I’m using 4.3. It’s a mess, from my initial testing, as well as all versions after 4.2.3.
We are essentially paying to be BETA testers IMO.
April 28, 2018 at 12:55 am #948236@WP Tuned UP – All of that would make sense except the 4.2 version of enfold had the same issues with the SG Caching – we were using the Google Speed caching but SG removed that do to some other issues on SG mail servers… what ever that mean. SO it has nothing to do with the v4.3 and has everything to do with the SG caching service.
I have even rolled back to version 4.2 and still we have issue on the server.
I will have to disagree with the BETA testing as my staging site has never been touched by the caching and it works just fine. So at this point I see it as SG issue and there is no other complaints about this specific issue.
April 28, 2018 at 1:00 am #948237If that is true, then why are you opening a support ticket with Enfold and why not make your staging site live? You’re kind of contradicting yourself.
Also, search the forum for “4.3”. Not good.
April 28, 2018 at 3:21 pm #948372Hi,
@trudiligence
I’m sure you have read Enfold 4.3: Performance Update, I believe with the internal compression and optimised CSS and JS files, based on the features you use, many will find third party plugins will not be needed, SG caching may be one such case. Perhaps try running some tests to see the performance difference.Best regards,
MikeApril 30, 2018 at 3:46 pm #949099Good Morning
The issue has been resolved and the solution was found in the .htaccessFrom the higher ups in the SG Support center who located the issues and solved it for us. During the caching process the links to the css & js files for the theme options had written a new path in htaccess as a redirect. WHY? That is the question… They are looking into why but as we are one site who knows why.
Solution : remove that link in the htaccess and caching is enabled and site is back and working.
Thanks for a great theme!
May 1, 2018 at 1:17 am #949292Hi,
Thank you for sharing your solution, we will close this now. Thank you for using Enfold. For your information, you can take a look at Enfold documentation here
and the video tutorials here
And if there are features that you wish Enfold had, you can request them and vote the requested ones here
For any other questions or issues, feel free to start new threads under Enfold sub forum and we will gladly try to help you :)Best regards,
