I’m the webmaster for a site that was built by another company who used your Enfold Theme. It’s a wonderful thing, but two days ago, the server did an automatic update and the Layout editor no longer works. In addition, there’s a photo slider that serves as the centerpiece for the homepage and it doesn’t work either – it’s just a big, empty white hole. The forum seems to be reserved for paying customers. I’m confident that the designers where paying customers at one point, but I’m not sure how to prove that at this point, based on what I have in front of me. I need help. I’ve googled and I’m at a point where I’m willing to take someone out to lunch if they can solve this dilemma for me. The site promotes a Rotary event where there are sponsors and right now, a lot of that is not accurate and it needs to be repaired as soon as possible. Tell me what you need from me so I can get this puppy repaired! Thank! If you need to call, my number is 615.618.2059.
September 7, 2016 at 3:01 pm #683183Hi Bruce!
Thank you for contacting us!
You are currently using a very old version of the theme. Updating the theme to the latest version 3.7.1 would solve the issues you are currently having – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/ but since you are using a very very old version, you may need to reconfigure some elements/options.
I am afraid the only way to get full support and theme updates is by having access to a Themeforest account which was used to purchase the theme.
The easiest way would be to get in touch with your developer and ask him for the purchase code and an API key. That would allow you to create a forum account here (one that got access to more than the pre-sale question area) and would also allow you to update the theme from your backend.
If you cant get in touch with your developer for whatever reason, you can also try to contact Envato support and ask them if its possible for them to credit the purchase to a Themeforest account of your own: https://help.market.envato.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
However this will probably only work if your developer already sent you a payment receipt or something similar for the purchase.Last option would be to create a themeforest account of your own and use it to re-purchase the theme.
I hope one of the first two options works out for you, but unfortunately we can’t help until we have a valid verification that the theme was purchased properly. This is necessary for us, since there are quite a few people out there who don’t buy the theme on themeforest and instead download it for free on illegal file sharing sites and then even have the audacity to ask us for support.
Sorry for that!

YigitSeptember 7, 2016 at 3:17 pm #683189Bruce GustGuestYigit, that’s good news, actually! Let me ask you this: How much would a new theme cost? It may be worth it to just buy it as a Rotary client rather than attempt to track down the original purchase code etc. How much is it and is an install of the new version something that can be done rather painlessly or is it a major operation?
September 7, 2016 at 3:30 pm #683195Hey!
It is $59 on ThemeForest and you can install it just as any other WordPress theme. Here are the instructions to install it via FTP – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/portfolio-item/install-enfold-theme-with-ftp/
You are using a child theme, so you can simply update Enfold parent theme – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

YigitSeptember 8, 2016 at 6:53 pm #683843Bruce GustGuestYigit!
I’m official! I just bought the theme for my client so we’re no longer dependent on the prior generation of developers etc. However…
When I go to update the theme, rather than the “Enfold” theme that’s used as an example in the article you reference above, it’s the “Grey Ghost 5K Run Theme Options” that I’m seeing. Specifically, along the left hand side, I see: Theme Options, Styling, General Settings, Header, Sidebar and Footer. I don’t see Theme Update.
How do I access that particular option?
September 8, 2016 at 7:46 pm #683861Hey!
Yay! Welcome on board :)
You can register to our forum here – https://kriesi.at/support/register/ and start a new thread whenever you have a question or an issue.
That is because you are using a child theme. When you go to Appearance > Themes, there should be Enfold parent theme as well. Please refer to “updating via FTP” video tutorial in the link i posted and update the theme manually. Since you are using a very old version of the theme, auto update features is missing on your installation.

First off for taking the time to “spoon feed” me through all of this.
When I go my themes directory, I see:
greyghost5k
greyghost5k_child
twenty eleven
twenty thirteen
twentytwelveI don’t see Enfold.
Now, I see Enfold when I got to “Appearance -> Themes on my dashboard, but I don’t see it in my ftp directory. What should I be looking for?
September 8, 2016 at 9:36 pm #683888Bruce GustGuestHey, buddy! Are you there? Sorry, you spoiled me with a number of prompt replies…
September 9, 2016 at 11:42 am #684117Hi!
Please refresh the page via FTP and check if Enfold shows up then. If not, please make sure that you are in the correct directory.
It seems like previous developers changed theme name from “enfold” to “greyghost5k”. If you now install it as Enfold, theme options will be reset. Therefore, i’d recommend you to change the folder name to “greyghost5k” and edit style.css file change the name to “greyghost5k” in there as well.Best regards,
YigitSeptember 9, 2016 at 12:16 pm #684137Bruce GustGuestI kind of figured that was the case, but I wanted to be certain before I started doing anything.
So, to explain back to you what I’m getting ready to do: I’m going to install Enfold as a directory into my themes folder. Because I’ve got a different custom.css file etc., I’m going to hold on to those. When I’m ready, I’m going to change the name of the enfold directory to “greyghost5k.” At that point, I’ve got a new version of the Enfold theme installed and life should be good as far as being up to date with the most recent version of WordPress and I should see my editor and my carousel behaving properly.
Do I need to be sensitive to any other files before I flip the switch? I’m not going to delete anything. But what are the crucial files I need to be ready to move into the new Enfold / Greyghost5k directory to preserve the integrity of my site, in terms of Photos, verbiage etc.?
September 9, 2016 at 1:35 pm #684166Hi,
Just to be on the safe side, please have a backup of your database and themes folder (greyghost5k and greyghost5k child actually). Your images are saved in wp-content/uploads folder.
Best regards,
YigitSeptember 9, 2016 at 1:40 pm #684167Bruce GustGuestI’ll do it.
And, things like the CSS file and other such dynamics – those are unique entities as well, yes? Bottom line: From a “systems” standpoint, what’s being upgraded is the functionality and not the content. So anything related to the content (layout, photos, etc), those things need to be saved. Everything else – that’s what’s being upgraded and improved. Right?
September 9, 2016 at 1:52 pm #684173Hey!
Exactly. But dynamic CSS might get messed up since theme name was changed. Correct way to change it is in child theme but it is too late at this point. As long as you have the backups for database and theme files, you can easily revert back to previous version. Please also have a backup of wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia folder
Cheers!
YigitSeptember 9, 2016 at 2:23 pm #684181Bruce GustGuestOK, I’m on it! How long do I have you on the phone? I’m going to start working on this right now. The client has been without his page for two days and I want to do this right the first time. Are you in front of your computer for the next few hours?
September 9, 2016 at 2:28 pm #684183September 9, 2016 at 3:51 pm #684222Bruce GustGuestOK, buddy! Here’s what I’ve done: I’ve backed up the greyghost5k folder and the greyghost5k_child folder. In addition, I’ve backed up the database so I think I’m good to go.
What do I need to do now? I’ve got the Enfold directory already uploaded, so it’s just sitting there waiting for me to pull the trigger. This is all live, too, by the way, so, again, this is why I’m asking for your eyes on this thing before I just start pushing buttons.
Here’s what I’m thinking:
In the Enfold directory (the one that I’m going to rename to “greyghost5k”), I’m going to
- replace the contents of the images folder
- add the fonts folder from the original directory
- replace the contents of the css directory
One thing I don’t see and I wanted to ask you about it: Is there a config file that I need to replace so everything is pointed in the correct direction as far as the database etc.? Where would that be?
Thanks!

September 9, 2016 at 3:57 pm #684227Hey!
You just need to rename that “enfold” folder to “greyghost5k” and edit style.css file and change theme name to “greyghost5k” as well. You can check out greyghost5k parent theme’s style.css file to insert the name as is.

YigitSeptember 10, 2016 at 11:05 pm #684607Yo, dog!
I did start a new thread, but just in case you’re still there…
We’re good! I installed the new content and the site was immediately effected in a good way. Most of my content is back to what it should be, but…
I’m getting some errors that are coming from the header.php in the child directory. You can see what I’m talking about if you go to http://greyghost5k.com. Do you know those are and how to fix them? Here’s the code:
<?php global $avia_config; $style = $avia_config['box_class']; $responsive = avia_get_option('responsive_layout','responsive'); $blank = isset($avia_config['template']) ? $avia_config['template'] : ""; $headerS = !$blank ? avia_header_setting() : ""; $headerMenu = $responsive ? avia_get_option('header_menu','mobile_drop_down') : ""; ?> <!DOCTYPE html> <html <?php language_attributes(); ?> class="<?php echo " html_$style ".$responsive."
