Hi there! I have recently built a website with the ENFOLD Theme (www.orthodoxchristianreligion.com) but I noticed that both, the drop down menu and the mega menu do not show all the pages-categories I have in them. They both stop at the point the footer of the website starts which is different in every page. When you move the cursor on any page I have in the main menu at the top of the site, you see that the drop down menu and the mega menu show less or more sub pages in them. More specifically, the mega menu of the page Dangers have 21 pages in it. Not all of them show up. What can I do?
Thanks!August 4, 2014 at 1:18 pm #299644Hi Ksms!
I can see all 21 items in your Danger menu item – http://i.imgur.com/i5OV5Wa.png
You can group these sub menu items, currently they are all displayed as titles. Please also see – http://vimeo.com/channels/aviathemes/92503669Regards,
YigitAugust 4, 2014 at 5:17 pm #299773Hi Yigit, thanks for the quick response! On my screen I see all the mega menu items only from the home page of the website. The same with the other simple menus. If I am on a another page, let’s say the last page (FOLLOW) I can see only the 12 items of the 21 of the mega menu. Something is wrong. As I mentioned in the previous message, when there is not a lot of stuff on a page and the footer space starts higher not all the items on the menus are displayed. The display stops at the point the footer starts. Could you please check it again?
Thanks!August 4, 2014 at 5:25 pm #299781Hey!
Can you please firstly update Enfold to the latest version 2.9.1 via FTP – http://vimeo.com/67209750
Regards,
YigitAugust 5, 2014 at 1:13 pm #300200I updated the theme through my WordPress. Is there any differencebetween that way and FTP? Do you have any idea of what is causing that problem with the menus? I checked it from other computers and the same problem occurs.
August 6, 2014 at 4:41 pm #300731Hey!
You can make sure to overwrite all files via FTP.
Please open php.ini file and set max_input_vars = 2000. If you do not have access, please contact your service provider and they could help youBest regards,
YigitAugust 7, 2014 at 10:12 pm #301362Could you please tell me if the name of the files is exactly “php.ini”? I didn’t see any file with that name but only one “init/php”. Where can I find it? And what do you mean by saying to overwrite all files via FTP? Sorry, but I’m not a tech guy and know almost nothing about this websites world…Thanks for your responses!!!
August 8, 2014 at 4:27 am #301422Hi!
Thank you for the info.
You should probably contact your host to do the changes for you. They will know what to do. Please tell them that you need to increase the max_input_vars option to 2000 or more because your menu are not being saved properly. FTP is a way of transferring files using a software like FileZilla etc. Please refer to this link for more info: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/
Cheers!
IsmaelAugust 11, 2014 at 8:23 am #302425Thanks! I will contact the company. I also just noticed that I can’t add a new page to the menu. It does not accept it and the main menu box at the bottom of the menu page gets unchecked. And then the whole site is ruined… Is that caused by the same problem. Just to know what to tell the company to fix. Thanks again!
August 11, 2014 at 9:51 am #302439My company solved the last issue I mentioned with the menu that didn’t save and accept more pages. Now I can add more pages to the menu. But the initial issue for which I started that thread has not affected by that. The mega menu and the drop down menus still stop at the point the footer of the site start. That means that on pages with less stuff where the footer comes higher, the menus stop there and they don’t show all the sub-pages on them. This way, readers of the site never see content of the site… Are we sure this is not an issue of Enfold theme? Please check that again. My site is Orthodox Christian Religion
August 11, 2014 at 9:56 am #302442I was told the company about the increase of the max_input_vars option to 2000 or more, as you told me, and they fixed the issue by setting php to be recursive in .htaccess in the site’s folder. The gave me a link that shows what they did. Is that the same with what you told me to do with the 2000 increase… or should I contact the company again and insist for that? Thanks for all your help…!
August 11, 2014 at 10:35 am #302452I just saw that the max input vars was set to 4000! I set it to 5000 just to see if that fixes the problem but the problem with the menus is still there… Any solution? Are we sure that is not an Enfold theme issue?
August 13, 2014 at 2:39 am #303524Hey!
Can you post a screenshot of your view showcasing the menu problem?
Cheers!
JosueAugust 13, 2014 at 5:25 am #303631My site is Orthodox Christian Religion. Isn’t it easier to check it from the site instead of sending screenshot? From the home page,if you put the cursor on the page DANGERS the mega menu shows 18 sub-pages but I have actually 21. From pages or sub-pages that have less stuff and the footer of the site starts from a higher point the DANGERS page shows less items in it. The same happens with the drop-down menus. For example, if you go the the page Worship/Holy places which is empty the DANGERS page show only 12 only items in it etc. Thanks…
August 13, 2014 at 5:30 am #303632Hey!
The problem is that we are not seeing the issue, here’s how it looks for me:
The thing with the holy places page is because the page is empty and there is not enough space for the menu to expand.
Cheers!
JosueAugust 13, 2014 at 5:59 am #303651From my computer from the home page I see only 18 items in the mega menu but from other computers I checked it, on some it shows 21, on some 18 but in general, there’s the same issue with the pages with less stuff. Isn’t it a problem that when you have less stuff on a page the menus do not work properly, do not expand? Should a reader know that they can’t see all the sub-pages on a menu because they are on a page with less stuff? It sounds a bit weird. It makes no sense. Isn’t is a weakness of the Enfold theme? What could we do? For a theme like Enfold which seems great and has been purchased by thousands this issue is strange a bit. This way one must put lots of stuff on all pages even if he does not want just to make the menus to work? Thanks for your help. Let me know…
August 13, 2014 at 6:04 am #303655How can I paste here the screenshots I took?
August 13, 2014 at 6:32 am #303662Hey!
Try adding this code to the Quick CSS:
.container .content { min-height: 500px; }
That will ensure that there is always some space for the menu to expand.
Cheers!
JosueAugust 13, 2014 at 6:47 am #303663Thanks! It fixed the problem for all pages except the Home page… Though the menus expand on the other pages now, on the Home page still shows the same less items(18).Why doesn’t it work for the Home page? It is still a problem because it is the main page where readers check all the pages. Any solution? Thanks for your efforts!!!
August 13, 2014 at 7:03 am #303668August 18, 2014 at 9:42 pm #306000I checked again the site on other computers and the mega menu from the home page is shown correctly. I use a projector connected to my pc due to a sensitivity I’ve had to the screens. So the problem may lie there for me. As long as the mega menu is shown well on other computers from the home page I’m ok with that. Thanks for all your help with my issues!!!
August 18, 2014 at 11:17 pm #306026You are welcome, always glad to help :)
