Our organizations site is not working. Enfold just stopped working today.
I can log into admin. If I switch themes, the site is functional. If I switch back to Enfold, the site times out.
All plugins are disabled and I overwrote the enfold theme with a fresh copy via FTP but that didn’t help.
The only things I did today were make some new pages. No new plugins or Enfold updates etc.
I need to get the site up ASAP. Prompt help appreciated.
July 22, 2015 at 3:00 pm #477100Hey draig!
Try turning on WordPress debugging, https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress, and check your server error logs for any useful information.
If you haven’t done so already then contact your hosting provider and let them know about this. It’s most likely something server related.
Best regards,
ElliottJuly 22, 2015 at 6:02 pm #477253I spent two hours yesterday talking with our service provider. Their conclusion after investigation was that there was a problem with the theme. After they said that, I switched themes to 2015 and the site worked. Switching back to Enfold the site does not work. That seems to indicate their assessment is correct. They suggested I contact you.
I am going to talk with them again today as well, but I think there is a problem with Enfold and if so we need your help.
Debug mode is on. No messages are showing up in admin. Site itself is still not working.
July 22, 2015 at 9:02 pm #477350Hi!
Please try to increase the allocated memory to 128M: http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP
You can contact your service provider and they can do it for you.Best regards,
YigitJuly 22, 2015 at 9:22 pm #477368I just changed it from 64M to 128M
That has no effect. The problem is the same
According to the hosting service, the site is not down, but the memory load is so high that a browser returns a 500 internal server error. As I mentioned, switching themes resolves the problem, so something is going on with Enfold.
I’ve spent hours in a chat with the hosting service and they say there is nothing going on on the server side. They say there is something misbehaving with the theme.
As before, I can still get into admin, but not view the site.
July 22, 2015 at 9:45 pm #477376I did some more investigating
the home page will not load
http://350pdx.orgI tried a simple page and that will load
http://350pdx.org/get-involved/teams/I’m not sure if the increase from 64M to 128M may have helped with that because I did not try to load the simple page when it was set to 64M. I had only been testing using the home page.
In any case, more complex pages are still not loading (home page, blog page etc)
EDIT: and the simple pages are sometimes loading but not always

July 23, 2015 at 11:06 am #477620Hi!
Would it be possible for you to increase even more to 256 maybe? 128 is really not a lot for more demanding pages.
Cheers!
RikardAugust 4, 2015 at 8:26 am #482563Been busy but I found the culprit a while back. I had these two shortcodes in a post. They were above the ‘read more’ and that was causing the site to be super slow and in effect, not working. When I moved them below the ‘read more’ link, site worked fine.
I did not experiment to see whether it is one of the two that was the problem.

August 4, 2015 at 4:37 pm #482808Hi!
Hmm, your only displaying one post there so that shouldn’t be an issue at all. Not sure what it could be. Perhaps the server needs an upgrade.
Best regards,
ElliottAugust 4, 2015 at 5:27 pm #482855Pretty sure it’s a bug in Enfold… anyway, I know what not to do so I need no other assistance on this issue. I posted what I found for your info and for any user who might encounter the same weird problem
