I’m not sure whether this is a caching or web server issue, but a number of changes I’m making to the back end of my new site aren’t showing up online. Here are some examples:
- Theme Options > Blog Layout: Deselecting various meta elements and social media items has no effect.
- Custom CSS to turn off those meta elements has no effect.
- General Styling > Fonts: Neither heading font nor body text font worked until I installed Typekit and had that plugin do it. The only body copy font that would show up was Work Sans.
Lots of other weird stuff happening. Hope you have some ideas. I’ve installed Enfold a number of times for other sites and never had these issues.
October 14, 2018 at 12:31 pm #1021192Hey ashforthmarketing,
Thanks for the login, I took a look at your site, and turned off your caching plugin, and disabled your css & js file merging in the Enfold Theme Options > Performance > JS & CSS file merging and compression for now while you are creating your site. This will save you a lot of headaches, and once your site is done you can enable these to make your site faster.
I see you are showing a blog post element on your “resources” page, so in your Enfold Theme Options I set the resource page as your blog location, which applied the settings from the Enfold Theme Options > Blog Layout settings.
I also checked your body content “Placeholder text” and the font family & size is matching your Advanced Styling options “Open-sans”, “16px”
So I believe everything is working correctly now, setting the “resource” page as your blog location in Enfold Theme Options > Blog was the key.
Let us know if there is anything else we can assist with.Best regards,
MikeOctober 14, 2018 at 2:23 pm #1021206Thanks, Mike. Didn’t realize about the performance settings or the blog location. The font issue though was corrected I believe when I installed Typekit. Without it, the site wouldn’t show Open Sans and only showed Work Sans. Can you please confirm? BTW, I do need Typekit for the header font, so maybe it’s not a big deal. It was just weird not being able to select Open Sans. Thanks again!
October 14, 2018 at 2:39 pm #1021208Hi,
I checked your fonts again by commenting out your Typekit css with /* … */ which makes css not work, then I ensured your site cache was still empty and cleared my browser cache, and your body & heading fonts were still Open Sans as set in your Theme Options.
I also commented out your Quick CSS that was for hiding the blog post elements, from before, you can remove this code now & the Typekit, if you wish.Best regards,
MikeOctober 14, 2018 at 3:13 pm #1021214Thanks so much, Mike. Open Sans not showing up was probably related to the caching issue then? Crazy. I really appreciate all the time you spent on helping me. All the best, George
October 14, 2018 at 3:20 pm #1021216Hi,
Probably, it’s one of the reasons to disable caching while you create your site :)
We are glad to help, unless there is anything else we can help with on this issue, shall we close this then?Best regards,
