Enfold running extremly slow and coming up broken

I’m working on a website and I started with the demo and Im having issues of extremely long load time, and having to hit refresh to see the page, when this occurs should I do a fresh install and start over? Could it be the server? This is taking up a lot more time then I was expecting to work this slowly. All the performance options are set for fastest loading but its still lagging. I did a speed test and my internet is clocking at 400 so I don’t think its that… any suggestions?
