When we add blocks or change them on our pages the changes let us save them but when we publish or update them the blocks disappear leaving only the header picture and everything under that is gone. We have had this when creating new pages and when changing pages using the classic editor.
I am sure it is the theme please advise on how to fix this bug.
Thank you,
David
August 14, 2020 at 12:10 am #1237598UPDATE 8.13.2020
WE HAVE COPIED THE SITE TO A STAGING ENVIRONMENT TO TEST POSSIBLE FIXES. AS AN UPDATE TO THE ISSUE HERE IS WHAT WE TRIED BUT IT STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM.
Updated the theme to the latest version
Updated WordPress version to the latest
Updated all plugins
and then tested with all plugins disabledThe problem still stays there
All of these fixes were tried on this staging site.Scenario: When we add a new page for the first time everything works fine. The problem comes when we edit an existing page.
August 14, 2020 at 1:58 pm #1237817Hi BeckTech,
Please post credentials in private.
Are you using Advanced Layout Builder or the Block editor?
Best regards,
VictoriaAugust 14, 2020 at 2:22 pm #1237828Hi Victoria,
Advanced Layout Builder. It started when trying to edit the following page adding text and blocks to complete the page. /summer-trip-planning we also tried creating a new page for this. Then we noticed when editing completed pages when we publish changes the original information that was on the page disappears.
Thanks for your help! , David
August 14, 2020 at 2:25 pm #1237829Here is a message from one of our web guys that explains it.
Hi David, there is something very strange with the Summer Trip Planning page https://nemountainlodge.com/summer-trip-planning . I’m not able to edit it, when I save, it will erase all content I added
1. I duplicated the Winter Trip Planning to create the Summer Trip Planning -> Add content -> Save -> It cleared everything out except the banner
2. I created a new Summer Trip Planning page from Scratch -> Add Content -> Save -> It cleared everything out
Not sure what to do with it.August 16, 2020 at 7:07 am #1238096Hi David,
Thanks for that. The content is not the same on the live and staging versions of the page, would it be ok if we copied the content to a test page on either the live or staging site so that we can find the problem? It’s likely due to open html markup, if you can find anything like that.
<strong>Bold text closed properly</strong>

RikardAugust 16, 2020 at 1:52 pm #1238162Hi Rikard,
Yes anything you can do to find it is appreciated. You can copy the content. The page we where the issue started is https://stage.nemountainlodge.nemountainlodge.com/summer-trip-planning and it will be set up just like https://nemountainlodge.com/trip-planning only different text and content.
When trying to do that page is when we noticed the problem. One of our web guys thought it was fixed but we found out it not it still does the same thing when adding the setup like https://nemountainlodge.com/trip-planning.
Whatever you need to do is ok with us we have a lot of changes to this site but have been help back because of the problem so anything you need to do is fine with us. :)
Thanks so much let me know if you need anything.

August 17, 2020 at 8:20 am #1238413Hi David,
Thanks for the update. I tried activating debug mode on your live site so that I could copy the shortcodes, but editing your functions.php doesn’t seem to work:
Something went wrong. Your change may not have been saved. Please try again. There is also a chance that you may need to manually fix and upload the file over FTP.
Could you share FTP login details as well please?
Best regards,

I have added the ftp information you asked for in the private content section. Please let me know if you need anything else.

August 18, 2020 at 7:39 pm #1238858Hi I am checking on this as the client is asking how things are going and is eager to get this fixed so we can add to the site and get it finished.
Can you please update me on this?
Thanks so much! David Beck
August 19, 2020 at 5:59 am #1239011Hi David,
Thanks for the update. I’ve activated debug mode on the live site, but the theme editor gave me the same error message on the staging site, and I can’t find the site on the server. The stage.nemountainlodge.nemountainlodge.com folder only contains an empty folder, where exactly is the staging site located?
Best regards,
RikardAugust 19, 2020 at 6:51 am #1239024Hi Rikard,
See below from our programmer regarding your questions…
The location is public_html > stage.nehemountainlodge in the file manager. What we figured in the start that the tag in the heading was open there was a strong tag this wasn’t closing so if you put it saves everything. See if he can check that. Haroon
Thanks you!
DavidAugust 20, 2020 at 6:08 am #1239436Hi David,
Thanks for that, I found the staging site. I’ve activated debug mode and copied the content to test page (1 in private), but I’m not sure if I can reproduce the problem. I added some content to the bottom of the page, but everything seems to save and work fine after I did that. I can’t see any problems on the test page on the staging site either (2 in private). How exactly can we reproduce the problem you are having?
If you had an open html tag in a header then that would explain the problems, since that will most likely break the layout builder.
Best regards,
RikardAugust 20, 2020 at 8:59 am #1239476It was explained by our web guy in a previous email. Try the below and see if it works on the staging.

to
https://stage.nemountainlodge.nemountainlodge.com/summer-trip-planningSame blocks and text. It is when adding the blocks and info that the problem happens.
August 20, 2020 at 6:11 pm #1239603Looks like the site is working now my web guy tested and he said it’s fine. Thanks so much for all your help. :)
