I just found out that the layout is not so responsive as I expected it to be.
For example I have 3×3 (1/3) Columns on the page. If I now change the width it is not going to change to 2 columns and then finally to one.
It squeezes the icon box unit it is not readable anymore and then finally changes to 1 column.The widht of 1024 would be best for two columns but is unnecessary 3 columns wide.
Is there an option to change that?

I see what you mean but that’s how the grid works right now, it groups columns in rows in order to maintain the structure, not sure if this can be improved as you describe but you can try suggesting that to Kriesi here.
