Ok, so i have a client and he is only willing to use Internet Explorer (don’t ask me why its a long, long, long story).
Main problem is he runs an XP machine which can only run IE 8. And he is refusing to sign off on the project until the site is IE 8 compatible.
I have also noticed that the site behaves the same in IE 9 + IE 10.
There is major layout issues (dual columns are sqaushed into 1 column).
Don’t mind the Logos, he is adamant he wants to keep them :(

Site in IE 8,9,10

And one got any ideas? As this has bound to have came up before (i did do a search but couldnt find a solution).
Edit: I’m using the latest theme version.

January 9, 2014 at 11:26 pm #207683Anyone?
January 10, 2014 at 10:37 am #207905I’m guessing thats a no then.
January 10, 2014 at 12:02 pm #207941I can only confirm that Enfold does not work well with IE when editing. There are numerous problems with CSS. I use IE for everything but Enfold. Chrome works great.
Apart from that: Drop the client!!! Any client that insists on staying with XP is bound to give you some serious headache in the future!!!!
January 10, 2014 at 12:31 pm #207953I can confirm the problems with IE 8, but with 9 and 10 I don’t have problems.
Are you talking about backend or frontend? because frontend does not apply to your client but to HIS clients – and they probably don’t use IE 8 cause it is REALLY outdated nowadays… And to use XP after next April is really fooliish….January 10, 2014 at 12:41 pm #207957Hi!
Please provide a link to the website – I’ll check it with IETester.

PeterJanuary 10, 2014 at 12:43 pm #207960I have had several problems creating and editing my webpages using the Enfold template also in IE 10. My English is not too good, but I’ll try to give you an example:
I have a page with two text elements (1/3 + 2/3). In each element there is a text header that is in orange, while the remaining text is in black. When creating this in IE10 it is only possible to get one of the headers in orange. The header in the other element box will switch to black. With Chrome this works without a problem.January 10, 2014 at 12:44 pm #207961Thanks for the comments.
I know its has no affect on himself (he’s a real pain) his argument is that he wants the site to work for him before it goes live to the masses as he can’t garuntee that his customers won’t be using XP etc…
Its only frontend thats have layout issues backend resolves itself in IE9+
Chrome, Firefox and Opera & Safari works great, all mobile browser work as expected.
Its down to the fact that they don’t support HTML5 & CSS3 in some of the browsers.
Really annoying as a sort of workaround i’ve just add a browser check that informs visitors if their browser is out of date.

I’m not getting any major issues in IE8 at least on Windows 7. Though I don’t have an XP machine to test on at the moment but i’ll tag the topic for myself to check when I’m at my other office that has a few xp machines running so I can test live.
You may want to let the client know that come April XP is no longer supported by Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/enterprise/endofsupport.aspx
And with XP at 11% http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_os.asp and IE8 at 3% http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_explorer.asp he is in the minority of minorities.
On that front, make sure that the client is at least using the most recent version of XP and its service pack as well as the most recent version of IE8.
Best regards,
DevinJanuary 10, 2014 at 11:22 pm #208248Thanks Devin,
The site works when using compatibility mode and i’ve managed to get 10 working via a few little changes.
But still having issues with 8 + 9, this is on XP & Windows 7. Works in IE10 and above now.
