I have tried numerous times to install the premium Enfold theme (over the free Enfold theme version) and get failed install error “Destination folder already exists”. I am hesitant to remove the free version because I’m worried about having to rebuild the theme slider and other theme functions (like its layout builder page formatting). What is the fix for uploading a new version over an older version?
March 13, 2018 at 10:20 pm #926299Hey,
You are using version 3.1.2 which is very old therefore you may need to re-configure some settings/elements but your content is saved on your database so they are safe.
FTP logins did not work for me. Could you please check them once again?

Please follow the instructions in the following documentation.

Unfortunately, we can’t help you with the theme installation and update as stated on our support policy.

IsmaelMarch 16, 2018 at 4:53 pm #928171I followed instructions for installing the theme – deleted Enfold theme, then used FTP to upload Enfold folder (extracted) – and got a fatal error message after installation.”Can’t use function return value in write context in /……wp-content/themes/enfold/header.php on line 6″

Issue you reported here is related to header.php file. You can alternatively contact your hosting provider and ask them to upgrade PHP version, preferably to 7.x.
You should not have any issues with Enfold. Can we activate Enfold and check the errors on your site and fix them?

As mentioned before, issue occurs on old PHP versions. You can check out this post – https://kinsta.com/blog/php-7-hhvm-benchmarks/ and decide for yourself if you would like to continue using older version of PHP. We have fixed the issue by providing backwards compatibility, even though we do not recommend older PHP versions.
Please contact Envato support to request a refund. Since payment process is managed by them, you would need to contact them regarding your refund request as well.
