    Dear Kriesi Team,

    I have an issue with updates at my website: I startet with version 4.2 (folder name enfold_42) some time ago and also with a child theme (folder name enfold_child). Every time when a new update was released I created a new folder (e.g. enfold_473) for the latest version 4.7.3, Of course, I always changed the style.css at the Child Theme to the new folder ….
    /*
    Theme Name: Enfold child
    Version: 4.7.3
    Template: enfold_473
    Text Domain: enfold-child
    */

    Now, I deleted the folder enfold_42 and the other folders from previous versions …… the website is now blank. Restoring the folder enfold_42 everything is fine.

    Would you please guide me through this mess?!? Thank you very much in advance!

    Kind Regards,
    Peter

    Hey Peter,

    You need to adjust this line whatever new name you gave to the parent folder:

    Template: enfold_473

    Otherwise WordPress doesn’t know which the parent folder is.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Dear Rikard,

    thank you for your answer. Yes, of course – actually this is in the style.css of the child but it refers to the old folder enfold_42. I have no idea why it does not change the parent folder.
    /*
    Theme Name: Enfold child
    Version: 4.7.3
    Author: FIP
    Template: enfold_473
    Text Domain: enfold-child
    */

    Do you want to check at the website and ftp? See the credentials at the private content.

    Thank you!
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

    Thanks for that, I can’t access the WordPress login page since there is a htaccess prompt before being able to see it. Please include those details as well.

    FTP; in which folder is the installation located?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Peter,

    Thanks for the update. I still can’t access your login page, do you know which countries are not blocked? I can tag this thread for moderators located in countries which are allowed for example.

    About your problem; what happens if you rename the parent theme name in style.css to correspond with what you have in your child theme? Right now it’s called Enfold. You could also try to simply rename the new folder to enfold, then change the template name to the same thing in your child theme style.css. Also, you have more than one style.css and functions.php in your child. Try to delete or move those as well.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Dear Rikard,

    the provider is located in Austria – I can ask them on Monday regarding the blocked countries but I am not sure if they give me all security relevant information. Where are you located?
    Maybe access from Austria or Germany is possible? Kriesi itself if from Austria, right?

    I changed the enfold_473 to enfold and the the design was gone and the page was in green letters without logo and other settings. If I check the source code of the page it always refers to the old folder enfold_42. The theme at the admin panel says still Enfold Child theme.

    I don’t understand what to change now?

    Kind Regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

    Thanks for the update. Please try to export your theme settings before you change any names, then import the settings again after you have changed the names under Enfold->Import/Export. If your settings still don’t apply after that then please try to change a setting in the theme and save again. Also make sure to clear the old CSS and JS files under Enfold->Performance. I’ll tag this topic for moderators located in Europe and the US to see if they can access your site.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Dear Rikard,

    after double checking your messages, you have led me to the solution:
    – Export the current (child) theme settings
    – Installation (upload) of a fresh child theme (folder “enfold-child”) with adaptions of some footer settings
    – Upload of the new enfold 4.7.3 version in a new folder “enfold”
    – Import the theme settings
    – (Adaption of some settings in theme -> performance)
    The website is operating with enfold 4.7.3 and a proper child setting for future updates.

    You can close the topic!
    Thank you for your guidance and your patience!

    Kind Regards,
    Peter
