When I’m editing my website in the backend, my CPU, physical memory and I/O usage is constantly maxing out causing 503 errors, critical errors, and extremely slow page loading. I’ve disabled all plugins and the issue remains. I’ve spoken to my service provider extensively and they’ve investigated and assured me it’s theme – Enfold. I’ve also used the plugin Code Profiler which shows Enfold processes are taking an extremely long time to load.

I’ve added admin user details in the private content area. Could you please investigate? Thank you

    Hey mosaic,
It looks like your PHP max input variables, PHP time limit, & Max input time are set low:

    try these settings:

it also looks like your REST API has a critical error, this is a server error.

Thank you for your response. Could I just confirm that you want me to change Max Input Time from 360 to -1? That seems to be lowering the time not increasing it? Thank you

    Hi,
    -1 is “unlimited”

Thank you. I’ve made the changes you suggested and fixed the REST API error but editing in the backend is still painfully slow and I’m still maxing out resources constantly.

    Hi,
At first, I get a 503 server error:
    Screen Shot 2025 03 09 at 12.59.19 PM
but after a few tries I see that you still have a REST API has a critical error

perhaps your web host has added too many sites to the server, this is typically for many hosts, a 503 error is typically a server error and not due to the theme.
I can not reproduce with my test site, it runs quickly without error. We are not server experts as there are a lot of server settings and a lot of different servers.
Typically one spam site on a server can max out the server resources and all of the other sites suffer.
I see that you have a lot of plugins activate, perhaps one is having an error, I know you tried to test with them disabled, how long did you wait, with them disabled?

    Best regards,
    Mike

Could I ask where you’re seeing this? When I go to site health it says ‘Good’ and shows no REST API error. There are recommended improvements but no critical errors. Thanks

    Hi,
I see it in the “site health” as in the screenshot, perhaps it is not always but I have seen it three times now when I check.

    Best regards,

Thank you. When I run Code Profiler I can see that during backend editing the following process is taking 10 seconds to load:

    wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-template-builder/php/base-classes/class-popup-templates-base.php

    Is this normal behaviour?

    Hi,

    Thank you for the info.

We can see the same report when we run the profiler again. Could you please post the FTP details in the private field so we can test and debug the issue further? It would be even better if you could clone the site to a staging environment so that we can investigate without affecting the live site.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    #1478990

Please feel free to investigate the live site

    #1478996

    Hi,

We’ll need the FTP details to make changes to the theme files and revert them if necessary. Please provide the information in the private field.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Ah sorry, here they are

Hi, it’s been three days, I just wondered if you might be able to look at this soon as my website is completely broken.

    #1479281

    Hi,
The Dev Team writes that it sounds like server related issue and maybe caused by a plugin or more than several thousand posts/pages
    Try to replace
    https://github.com/KriesiMedia/enfold-library/blob/master/temp_fixes/Enfold_7_0/framework/php/class-responsive-images.php

    Best regards,
    Mike

Sorry could you give me more info about the code you’ve supplied – what it does and what to do with it? Thank you
