After updating to 4.4.1 I encountered the endless spinning wheel in the advanced layout editor when trying to edit pages. No errors in the console, no scripts failing to load. I tried manually copying the latest version via FTP but no solution there. In this case I’m using it on a network with a large number of plugins and differing configurations per blog — no rational way to start disabling things looking for a conflict (which again, usually would show in the console).
Rolled back to 4.2.6 which I had handy from another site and everything works great again. WP version 4.9.6, PHP version 5.6.36.
I know the standard formula is “disable plugins…” but that’s frequently not practical in real world usage. If there’s another way to debug things like this with Enfold that I’m unaware with I’d love to know. If you want more details just let me know.
I love the theme and appreciate any help you can provide.
June 5, 2018 at 8:54 am #967073Hey wunderdojo,
Sorry for the problems. It’s difficult to debug if we can’t see the actual error, do you have a staging version of the site maybe? I’m running the latest version on a local install without any problems, so it’s likely a local issue rather than a general one.

RikardJune 5, 2018 at 8:33 pm #967456Hi Rikard,
I don’t have a staging version of the site. As I said, it’s a network of sites and the individual site owners have a limited ability to add and configure plugins on a per-site basis. Short of cloning the entire network and then trying to disable various plugins, etc. there isn’t any practical way to test. Given that the older version of Enfold works and the newer one doesn’t when paired with the exact same set up there’s obviously some change in the new version of Enfold that is incompatible, so perhaps a change log would be a helpful starting point. Again, I’m not seeing any console errors like you’d expect if there were a script conflict, but knowing what changed in the latest versions of Enfold might help track down where the error is occurring.
Thanks.
June 6, 2018 at 1:29 pm #967837Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, here is the change log if you want to have a look: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/changelog/
I’m not sure how we can help you out further than that, unless we can’t see the the actual problem. We’ll keep the thread open in case you should need any further help from us though.
Best regards,
RikardJune 6, 2018 at 6:26 pm #967990Thanks. I’m going to have to clone that network and test locally. If you leave this thread open I’ll post back when I find the issue in case it helps anyone else.
June 6, 2018 at 7:32 pm #968016Surprised it wasn’t recommended, but you absolutely need to update PHP to at least 7.1.x.
June 6, 2018 at 10:23 pm #968091Is that a requirement for the latest version of Enfold? I put in my original issue that this particular server is currently running 5.6.36 and they didn’t make any mention of that being an issue. Just want to confirm that 7.1 is an actual hard requirement.
Thanks!
June 7, 2018 at 10:27 am #968484Hi wunderdojo,
Running PHP 7.x is not required, though I think that anyone who can run that should. Enfold supports 5.6 as well.

RikardAugust 31, 2018 at 12:39 am #1003840I am currently having the same issue – unable to edit blog page, editor keeps spinning. I tried everything to fix what was recommended but no luck so far. I want to know:
1. whats the compatible / recommended php version for Enfold 4.4.1?
2. My current php version is 5.5, do i need to upgrade ?
3. What will be the consequences if I upgrade my php version ? will I lose all my work on other pages?please help!

August 31, 2018 at 3:22 pm #1004111Hi Reejuta,
You should be running at least php5.6.3 for the code to work properly. Please consider upgrading your php version.
You will not lose your work, it is safe to upgrade.

RikardSeptember 3, 2018 at 7:18 am #1004791Hi Rikard/Victoria,
Dude took a look at my original post (#1004790) and he stated its now working without doing anything. So I havent upgraded my php yet. The reason is still unknown why it stopped working and now all of a sudden all seems to be good ( no more spinning on template editor for Blog page). I will continue working now, if I face issues I will upgrade my php.
Thanks again for your reply.
