Hi- Glad to see that 4.2.1 is out today, but surprised that the self-hosted video bug is still there despite seeing several different workarounds here on the forum. Since this 4.2.1 includes a security update that sounds pretty critical, I would like to update asap, but need the latest patch for this bug.
(full screen video appears in small box, such as on this page: http://robwiley.staging.wpengine.com/40-twain-harte-lane/ (hosted on WPengine) )
Thank you for your help.
RobJanuary 17, 2018 at 6:02 pm #898589Same here. I’m stucked since several days with this bug…
January 17, 2018 at 10:46 pm #898720I added this code from Ismael’s reply 870289 to custom css and it fixed some of the self-hosted videos but others are not working:
#top .av-video-slide video {
height: auto !important;
}#top .av-video-slide .mejs-container {
width: 100% !important;
}Here’s an example of a page where it’s still not working, shows black screen and a strange counter:
http://robwiley.staging.wpengine.com/sea-arches/ (hosted on WPengine)The issue is with video background on Fullscreen Slider and has occurred since 4.2 update.
I really need to update to most recent theme on my production site, please help asap.

RobJanuary 18, 2018 at 11:11 am #899026Hi Rob,
Could you please enable the Advanced Layout Builder debug mode. Here is how to do it: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/enable-advanced-layout-builder-debug/
Can you also make a copy of the page where it is not working please?
Best regards,
VictoriaJanuary 18, 2018 at 11:21 am #899035https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-2-1-and-videobackground-no-improvement/
i posted it allready a few minutes earlier. – if you like you can close mine and we continue here.
The point why it is so important that self-hosting works too – is that i don’t like surprisings for my customers. If video is gone on youtube or a different video is shown instead etc. pp .
And i don’t like the slow start with a black background beginning.- This reply was modified 6 years, 10 months ago by Guenni007.
January 18, 2018 at 5:44 pm #899211Hi Victoria,
Thank you for taking this on!
– Duplicate page added to staging site: http://robwiley.staging.wpengine.com/sea-arches-2/ (hosted on WPengine)
– Debug mode code added to functions.php
I’m providing FTP credentials in private data field. Please note this is a staging site (out of sync with production, so log any changes so we can add them to production site later) so you can copy page above or make new pages etc without fear.
Thanks!!
RobJanuary 18, 2018 at 5:59 pm #899217It’s a shame to release an update with so many bugs.
January 19, 2018 at 6:38 am #899526i will go back for some customers to 4.12 allthough the burger-menu is not perfect there.
January 22, 2018 at 9:08 pm #900975Hey!
I would like to share the same message on this thread as well to inform other users who are having the same issue.
We are sorry about that. Apparently, there has been a miscommunication within our dev team and video background fix was not included.
We will include it in upcoming update along with PHP backwards compatibility which we are hoping to release within a few days.Best regards,
YigitJanuary 24, 2018 at 1:15 pm #902121Hi,
To all participants of this thread:
Sorry for the late reply and the problems you had.
In the next version 4.2.2 we will add a fix to the WP 4.9 related video problem.
If you are using 4.2.1 you can exchange enfold\functions.php with this file:
https://github.com/KriesiMedia/enfold-library/blob/master/temp_fixes/Enfold_4_2_1/functions.php
Make sure to make a backup of the original file for fallback.
Best regards,
GünterJanuary 24, 2018 at 6:08 pm #902246http://robwiley.staging.wpengine.com/homes-sold/Hi (hosted on WPengine) Gunter!
Thank you for the response and for keeping me informed.
Unfortunately, while the patch fixes one problem is causes a new one… now the page above works great will full screen (YAY THANKS!), but my page with a Youtube video posted with a video element under ALB non full screen no longer works and I have not touched that page on staging site.
All the pages that feature Youtube video in video element on ALB now display error message instead of video.See links in private content.
Thanks!

January 26, 2018 at 4:48 am #903150Hi Rob,
The youtube video works fine on my end. Could you please clear the cache, check again and get back to us.
Can you also attach a screenshot of the error you’re getting?

February 27, 2018 at 11:56 am #918378I am not sure if this is update related but the video player of my self hosted videos now all of a sudden show only the control bars. (a horizontal bar with the control elements and part of the play button in the midle). It seems to work fine for the youTube hosted videos.
It worked fine before so what happened? Your help is much appreciated.
I have enclosed a link to the examples
February 27, 2018 at 12:04 pm #918380I have the same problem. Video player of my self hosted videos now all of a sudden show only the control bars (a horizontal bar with the control elements and part of the play button in the midle). Enfold Version: 4.2.4
Please HelpFebruary 27, 2018 at 12:52 pm #918413I found this css code in another thread and it seems to solve the issue:
.mejs-container { max-height: 100% !important;}
But I don’t get a preview image, only a black background.
I would also like a fullscreen button, which is not provided.- This reply was modified 6 years, 8 months ago by manurimini.
February 27, 2018 at 1:03 pm #918417Thank you for sharing this! It is a good start.
However, adding a self hosted video, including a preview image, should work fine with the regular tools Enfold provides.In the meantime I have used Elite video player to at least have a functional player. But it seems to be a bug in Enfold. Or a mismatch with the latest version of wordpress because everything worked fine before.
Hopefully a moderator will come to our rescue soon.
