Hello there,
After updating my site to 4.01, I had to suspend the site in WHM and put back a backup with 3.8.x, as the 4.01 was creating an excessive load on the server.
Does anyone else have this problem…?
February 27, 2017 at 11:34 pm #752622Hi!
Have you tried de-activating all active plugins and activating them one by one to see if one of them is causing the issue?
Regards,
YigitFebruary 27, 2017 at 11:36 pm #752623No I could not do that, as it completely shut down access to the server.
I will try this on a backup site tonight.February 27, 2017 at 11:40 pm #752627Hey!
Please do so and let us know if that helps. We will keep the thread open and wait to hear from you

YigitFebruary 27, 2017 at 11:53 pm #752634We have been having the same issues on our site as well the past couple weeks. We worked with our host to deactivate all of the plug-ins and when that did not work, we switched the theme and it cleared it up. Seems to be something within the latest version of Enfold. I have been using Enfold for years and have never had any issues like this before. It is so slow at times the website does not even load, but our hosting is working fine.
February 28, 2017 at 12:10 am #752646I am going to start a new thread because it seems like we are having a hard time actually updating to the newest version of Enfold and I have a suspicion that might be the issue. Sorry to jump in on this thread!
February 28, 2017 at 12:14 am #752650Hi runriotcreative,
this is probably not the same issue since the latest version was only released a few hours ago. I checked your site and you are using a few really huge images like this one for example: https://missionutoo.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/159.jpg (1.6mb for a single image is really a lot) – there are certainly other things that can be optimized as well with a caching plugin so I would recommend to check for hughe images and videos and replace them with optimized versions and also try to use a plugin like wp-supercache to speed up the site :)
Best regards,
KriesiPS: @defeyter is the excessive load an ongoing issues? When the new version is first installed it will (for backwards compatibility) import images for the default layersliders which are no longer part of the theme package. Its pretty much the only thing I could think off which puts some strain on the server but it should be done in a minute or two…
February 28, 2017 at 12:17 am #752653I do not know, Kriesi. I asked support to install nginx on my VPS, and then I will try again with a test site. I am not a happy customer today.
February 28, 2017 at 12:20 am #752659Thanks Kriesi. Unfortunately it is loading slow even on pages that do not have larger images. I also just posted another thread about actually updating our site.
February 28, 2017 at 2:47 am #752717Hello,
I am running a WordPress Multisite and I had this same exact issue. I worked with 3 of my server managers for well over 4 hours to see if it was a plugin, varnish, wp-rocket (our cache plugin), and our CDN’s… in the end it was the theme. If we reverted back to an old one it worked every single time.
I thought the 4.02 would fix it but the same problem still remains. I am back to 3.5 something… could I please have a copy of the latest 3.8 version. I had no problems with it when that was running. And would like usable websites until this can be resolved. I do not mind going back in the meantime.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

February 28, 2017 at 4:58 am #752736I have reported this earlier and also reported it to wp-rocket. If you turned off the css minification and let these files load, which I mentioned in the post – https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfond-4-0-capability-issue-with-cdn/ , then they will be served over cdn, and somehow load faster than when minification is on in wp-rocket. However, not using minification for all css is a huge performance drop for site speed.
February 28, 2017 at 9:16 pm #753231Last night I was able to update to 4.02 without any problems. I do not know what was changed from 4.01 to 4.02. But it worked ;-()
March 3, 2017 at 7:02 pm #755274Hi,
we recommend to work with “WP Super Cache” and “Better WP Minify” plugin.
@defeyter
Glad it’s working for you now.Best regards,
