I’m encountering an error since updating Enfold to version 3.5+ I’ve tried deactivating plugins, reinstalling the theme, switching to the main theme rather than our child theme, etc.
Some of my child theme Custom CSS (set in “General Styling”) can be long if I do a lot of customizations. I’ve done several tests, and it seems as though Custom CSS now can’t be saved if there is more than a certain number of lines. This is on Bluehost. I receive the standard “Saving Didn’t Work”! message.
PHP memory limit is at 128
Oddly, on some other hosts the exact same Custom CSS DOES save. It is hit or miss. So here is my question: What files are being modified when Custom CSS is edited? Where can I look on Bluehost to see whether there’s an issue with the file/directory itself that’s preventing me from saving? Do you have any sneaky ideas about what might be happening?
Thanks, guys

April 22, 2016 at 11:44 am #619785Hi!
Are you referring to General Styling > Quick CSS? it looks empty on the install you provided.
Best regards,
JosueApril 22, 2016 at 3:46 pm #620027yes, and it is empty because I cannot copy my large style template into it….or to be specific, I can copy it it, but cannot save. It is this inability to save that is the problem…..when the Custom CSS reaches a certain number of lines, you can no longer save.
You could experience this by copying the contents of Appearance >> Editor into the General >> Custom CSS. I have faith it is a configuration issue somewhere with the host Bluehost, but I haven’t a clue where to look.
Thank you Josue. You guys are so good.
April 22, 2016 at 9:12 pm #620216Ok, if you’re going to use a large amount of custom CSS it would be better to use the child theme style.css.

JosueApril 22, 2016 at 9:24 pm #620226Thanks, Josue. I guess the issue is that other website hosts DO allow a lot of General >> Custom CSS entries….just this one (bluehost) seems to not, and I’m curious where to look (a setting? a memory limit?) to see if it can be made to happen. If you can’t easily think of a place to check that, then no worries. I appreciate your help, always.

The theme files are all set to 755. And you CAN edit that file, but only if you keep it to 20-30 lines or so. If you try to add any more, it gives you the “can’t save” error message. Weirdest thing. Try it with just a couple of styles, then add the whole styles.css, and you’ll see the difference. I’m not even sure where to look for a fix to something like that.
MApril 23, 2016 at 1:41 am #620307It’s more likely a server limitation, Enfold uses the
fwrite
PHP function to create the dynamic avia stylesheet, if you really want to get this resolved i’d suggest contacting your hosting support and asking them about it but as you’re using a child theme i’d strongly suggest not using Quick CSS and use style.css instead.Regards,
