Edits to posts are not being saved or publishing to live site

I have been trying to make a post that I saved as a draft live all morning and it is not showing up on the live site. The edits are showing on the backend (ie if I edit the post or view in Preview mode) but nothing on the live site. When I first made the post live I got an “error connecting to database” warning but then the site was fine, so something might be up with the php. Please let me know how I can fix this.
