Hi, I’m new to WordPress and would like to ask something. I’m only replacing the content of the pages, etc, I’m even using the dummy content for that, I didn’t even have to create anything to be honest. So my question is, do I really need a Child theme to avoid losing anything when I update the theme?
Maybe I don’t really know the right concept of a child theme but it seems it only have to do with code modifications, am I right?
For example, if I wanna change the Contact form labels to a different language, do I need a Child Theme for that?
Thank you in advance!
Hey JoaquimN!
No, you don’t need a child theme if you’re not planning to modify the theme files. Anyway, you should a child theme just in case. The latest version includes a pre-made child theme folder. You can use that.

Ismael
Ismael,
Are you referring to the update that was released over the last couple days?
I updated the theme via ‘theme update’ link in the WP dashboard. Can I activate the child theme from updating that way?
Hi!
No, the child them is included in the full download you can get from your downloads on ThemeForest. You can also download a simple version of it from here: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/using-a-child-theme/
The one I added to 2.5 has a bit more than that in the functions.php file but nothing major.
Best regards,
Devin
Awesome … thank you!
