Hi there!
How can we display private blog posts on a page with a masonry blog when the user is logged in?
Thanks
BerndMay 18, 2021 at 3:42 pm #1301018Hi profil77,
For private posts to show to certain user level, you will need to use a third party membership plugin for that.
Best regards,
NikkoMay 21, 2021 at 7:12 pm #1301702Hi Nikko.
Thanks, but sorry, we use already the Members Plugin, all settings concerning private posts are “on”. The private posts are displayed on the blog page, if we choose “Single author, big image”. The private posts are not displayed, if we choose “Grid Layout” or “Masonry”.
Can you perhaps rebuild this issue?
Thanks
BerndMay 22, 2021 at 4:07 pm #1301750Hi Bernd,
Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.
- Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
- Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
- Click ” Create New “.
- Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( to be sure that we have enough time to debug ). - Click ” Submit “.
- You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.
When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create an admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.Best regards,

Please have a look at the page “Ausstellung: Statements Mitarbeitende”.
First element: Blog posts (category filmtage-team) on masonry: no private post of this category is displayed, but the posts of another category
Second element: Blog posts (category filmtage-team) on Grid Layout. Private posts of this category are displayed.
Thanks
BerndMay 27, 2021 at 3:04 am #1302482Hi Bernd,
We apologize for the delayed response.
It seems this bug triggers on masonry when there are no items in the category selected but it does not seem to have anything to do with private posts since even when set to public the result is the same.
We will be reporting this bug, for the meantime please use Blog Posts on Grid Layout.Best regards,
NikkoMay 27, 2021 at 12:59 pm #1302625Thanks, Nikko.
One additional note: If we are logged in as author of the posts and set the posts to “public”, everything works fine with the masonry. Only the posts of the chosen category are displayed in the masonry.
Do you still need the WP account?
Best regards
BerndMay 27, 2021 at 1:24 pm #1302632Hi Bernd,
Our developer has updated me regarding the issue and it’s actually an intended behavior since you don’t normally select terms/categories that are not used.
If I checked on the selected category: Filmtage-Team it has 0 posts (link in private content)
As for the issue regarding private posts, I was actually thinking of the page with the masonry and not the posts, if it’s set to private then it will not show to the masonry since WordPress would prevent it, I believe the only solution for showing private posts is to use a membership plugin.Best regards,
