I plan to display galleries on more than one post. The regular gallery cannot be saved, it is only per post which is not helpful. So I am looking how to use Portfolio Items as galleries. How would I display a Portfolio Item inside a post? I would also want to display it without the title or post meta… same as if it were a gallery.
Any suggestions welcome on how to best go about this.
Thanks

Thank you for using Enfold.
What do you mean when you said “the regular gallery cannot be saved”? A screenshot of what you’re trying to do will help.

IsmaelApril 30, 2015 at 9:41 am #437262What I mean is, you cannot save a gallery as an independent object. It is just a shortcode in a post.
If I want to insert the same gallery in a other post, I can copy paste the shortcode, but then if I want to make a change to the gallery, I have to edit it in 2 or more places. Plus you cannot actually edit the gallery. You have to create a new gallery to replace it (except if you happen to know how to edit the shortcode)
So I thought of using a portfolio item since it is an independent and editable object and if I display it in 5 different posts, I only have to edit the portfolio item in one place. But is it possible to display a portfolio item inside a post? Or do you have some other workflow suggestions? Enfold has so much capability with media, but it seems more aimed at pages not posts.
Thanks
PS – This is the site I’m working on, though I am doing my current testing on a localhost site. http://350pdx.org

wilko123May 1, 2015 at 11:14 am #437965Hey!
I’m sorry but it’s not possible to insert post or custom post types inside another post. The blog posts element might work but you have to use a unique category for the single portfolio item. Maybe, a plugin will do the trick: https://wordpress.org/plugins/xili-postinpost/
Note that this plugin will only work for the default posts so custom post types such as the portfolio item is out of the question. The plugin shortcode doesn’t render the theme’s shortcode (gallery etc) so you have to use the plugin’s widget. On the actual post, use the Widget Area element to display the plugin widget.
Best regards,
