    Hi,

I uploaded the demo on the theme and I just started editing the pages. I noticed the URL links are very long and not appropriate for the page. So I went to the dashboard – settings – Permalinks – and changed it to “post name” – I looked at one of the pages and instead of saying “.com/contact” it says “.com/pages__trashed/contact/” – same thing shows up for all the other pages. So I changed the Permalinks settings to test it, I changed it to “plain” and “numeric” but the same “pages_trashed” showed up in the URL link. Right now I have switched it back to “post name” and it still has the “pages_trashed” showing up in the middle of the link. Here’s an example of one of the pages https://watchglassconsulting.com/pages__trashed/contact/ – please advise how we can fix this link issue. Thank you

    Hey JanineBNB,

That means the page you are looking at is in the trash, you can delete it permanently or restore it in the Pages menu in WordPress.

    Hello,

I checked again on the dashboard at pages and it’s on the “published”. I checked the “trash” section and I do not see any pages with the same title. I then went to the actual website itself and clicked “edit page” and it was the same page in the published page at the dashboard under pages. Do I have to create brand new pages instead of the demo pages to get the link error fixed? Please advise. Thank you.

    Hi,

Thanks for the update. I’m not sure why the page is not showing up in the trash folder, but I’m pretty sure the problem will fix itself if you empty the trash and then create a new page. Could you try that out please?

    Best regards,

    Hi,

The reason why we do not want to empty the trash is because we want to go off from the designs and page layouts in the demo. We wanted what we saw on your themes demo. We were planning on getting this website set up quickly so we wanted to just go off from the demo’s set up. That being said if we have to create a new page for all the pages we would like to have, then the demo would be useless. It’s like creating every page from scratch, we just want to use what was on the demo of your theme before we purchased the theme. That is the main reason why we installed the demo of your theme. Please advise because we would like to use the demo, have the demo there, but not have URL’s with the word “trashed” in it.

    Hi,
I would like to follow up on our support question regarding the url links please. Thank you.

    Hi JanineBNB,

The theme does not rule permalinks. You can edit them, if you need more permalinks options you need to look for a plugin that provides that functionality.

Please have a look at this article:

Hmm, that’s very unfortunate. I have never seen a theme demo before that has bad links on their demo pages that you can’t actually use the demo. I guess I can’t use your demo so I would have to re-create the pages.

    Hi,

Thanks for the update, but this is not a problem with the theme or with the demo. In my six years working at Kriesi you are the first one who has had this problem. The problem very likely that you are viewing pages which are in the trash folder, it’s as simple as that. This is also default WordPress behaviour, and has nothing to do with what theme you are running.

If you should need further help then please post admin login details in private so that we can have a closer look.

    Best regards,

    Hi,
If it’s not a problem with the theme or the demo then why did you reply, from my earlier question – “but I’m pretty sure the problem will fix itself if you empty the trash and then create a new page. Could you try that out please?” – you told me to empty the trash and just create a new page, doesn’t that signify that I need to create a new page, and not use the demo pages provided by the theme? Which I did, I deleted the demo pages and just created a new page. You were right it did solve the problem. I am just saying how it’s unfortunate I had to create the new pages from scratch and not be able to actually use the demo pages that the theme provided because of the link/url problem.

    Hi,

Thanks for the update. So why did you put the pages in the trash to begin with if you need them? All you have to do is to restore them from the trash folder, please try that out.

    Hello,

Why don’t you read your previous messages before you reply. I just followed your advice lol. That’s why, lol. But at this point like again, I am repeating myself again. Like I said, I went ahead and recreated the pages, because your demo is incapable of having a proper URL. Like you said trash them and just create new ones, and that’s what I did. Unfortunately we would have liked to use your demo pages but since it can’t be used as you advised to delete them and just create new pages. We just finished the process of creating new pages, which obviously took awhile. Is this how you always deal with support? It seems like you didn’t read my previous questions properly or you didn’t read my replies. Anyways, have a great day. Too bad there isn’t a solution for your demo pages.

    Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I’m not really sure what to say to you anymore since you don’t seem to understand what we are telling you, but you have 2 options if you want to use the imported demo pages:

    1. If they are in the trash folder – restore them from trash.
    2. Import the demo again – trash all pages before if necessary.

This is how we always deal with support yes, we try to help our customers out. Sometimes customers don’t understand what we mean though. Just like the opposite can be true sometimes.

If you are saying that I told you to delete the pages which were in the trash folder, then that was a misunderstanding since I obviously thought that they were pages which you didn’t need anymore. Why else would they be in the trash folder?

    Best regards,
    Rikard
