    Hi,

when searching for our website in Google, the SERP shows de date before the meta description as was the homepage a post and not a page. This will harm the clickthrough rate and we would love to hide this date stamp in the SERP.

The date is the date shown in the latest posts widget in the footer. Do you have any idea where to hide this for the SERP in the code? Or is ther no other option then to hide the date in de latest post widget or remove the latest post widget entirely?

    Kind regards,
    Roderick

    Hi Roderick,

I would recommend that you use a plugin like Yoast SEO to control exactly what appears in your SERPs.

    Thanks,

I know Yoast, but that doesn’t handle this issue. Google is known to have this problem and the only options to prevent this seem to be:

    – no posts on the homepage
    – hiding the datestamp of a post in the code

    Bu thanks anyway.

    Hi Roderick,

Ok, I’m not sure what you mean by that but in my experience Yoast is able to set SERPs perfectly. Let us know if you should need any further help on the topic.

    Thanks,
    Rikard

Found another topic on the forum with a piece of css to hide the date, hopefully that will work out for the SERP, Yoast does not take care of this specific issue. I had it in other custom themes as well. Thanks for the help
