    Hello, the site http://www.glasspaint.com has enfold, that was customized to work for the site, it worked great for 7 years, until last night i had to update woocommerce version and wp version to fix credit cart processing issue that was outdated. now the cart icon doesn’t show a number at the top of it representing how many items are in cart and the drop down to quick view cart items is not there, it does give a little gray area under the cart area when hovered over like its trying to drop down but hidden from other things in front of it.. the thing is in wp theme editor page, the preview of the site looks correct and thecart icon shows and works correctly, but in live view it has the issue. i deactivated all plugins and it doesn’t change, if i reactiveate woocommerce plugin the site doesnt work so i can deactivate that one.. im scared to update theme because the theme was customized. im willing to pay a pro to go over this site, i use to have an email to someone here that went in and fixed theme issues in the past, but this was 7 years ago. i cant find his contact now. he fixed it in like 3 seconds. im willing to pay for help on this. i payed $45 for “support” for the theme from theme forest yesterday, im not sure what that means, its been really hard for me to get this far on this forum. my web guy has vanished and every time i outsource things they have done serious issues to the theme code, that’s why in the past i had a person for here fix the issues the other outsourced guys made. im here now trying to do this myself because i feel i have no options. thank you all in advance for reading this.

    Thank you for the inquiry.

    What is the current version of the theme? You have to upgrade to version 5.6.9 in order to fix the cart issue. After upgrading the theme, make sure to toggle the Enfold > Performance > File Compression settings and purge the cache before testing the page again.

    Ok thank you for the response!:) but my theme was customized by the web guy who used it like 7 years ago, if i update the theme wont that over write the custom parts of the code they implemented and make the site not work? that is the issue i think im up against . the enfold theme he customized is version 4.0.2

    Hi,
    It looks like your site is using a child theme, so I would assume that any customizations would have been added to the child theme and will not be loss.
    This is the standard approach to customizing a theme.
    I recommend first creating a staging site to test on, most cPanel webhosts have a staging site option, some in the dashboard:

    Others add the option in the Softaculous WordPress Management

    There may be other staging site options in different cPanel servers, these are the two that I have seen. You can ask your webhost if you don’t see these.
    Then you can update the staging site and see if it works correctly, if so you can then update your live site.

    thanks Mike, i cant find anything to do with staging in my host gator cpanel software section or any section in there. if i was to do the update without this, and it messed up the site, how can i roll back to the original theme i have now? and would the site work again if i did that?

    also i cant find my theme on my dashboard in theme forest , how do i find this theme and purchase an update? i notice there is a theme update option in wp but its asking for api key, but i cant find that anywhere on themeforest

    Hi,
    Above you wrote that the site was created by a guy 7 years ago, are you sure that you purchased the theme, or was it him? If you had purchased it, you would see it in your Theme Forest account. You may need to purchase the theme though your account so that you will be able to update your site now and in the future.
    I believe that host gator offers the staging site option, so you should ask them how to use it, and also ask them how to backup your site and restore it, so if anything goes wrong you can restore your site.
    I don’t recommend using backup plugins, the webhost server backup is always better and more reliable.

    ok thank you. i do have an account and when logged in i do have an enfold product that only gives me the option to “download” from this page https://themeforest.net/downloads

    it says “enfold – response – multi purpose theme” (regular license) (6 months support remaining) DOWNLOAD. there is no other options for it, it doesn’t show license key or api key or anything .. is this the correct theme? i would ss you what i see but i dont know how to load ss in this chat.

    also in my wp themes page i shows a “glass paint” theme that is active, and then the next theme next to it that is inactive is “enfold” . if i do a preview of it, it shows the site but with wrong color text and an enfold logo instead of the glass paint logo and some functions dont work.. if i did indeed over write my “glass paint” theme with this enfold one, i asume it would look like the preview i see when previewing the enfold inactive theme?

    and lastly if i preview my existing theme the cart icon works.. but live it doesnt, same as enfold inactive theme preview, it all works there too.. you say needs theme update but maybe this isnt so? only thing i did was update wp and update woocommerce to be able to function with a new paypal plugin. you would happen to have anyone that i can consult with to do this for me and troubleshoot this? i have zero web guys as of now and this is over my head,

    I even purchased “support” for like $45.00 and thats the only way i found this forum, im not sure what the $45.00 was for though? maybe i have an up level of support im not using?

    i just contacted codeable.io i saw someone said they are good on a post on your forum, do you recommend me trying to have them fix this? i also copied them to this thread to see what we have been discussing.

    Hi,
    If you wish to hire someone at codeable.io that may be a good option if you are not sure what customizations were made on your site. Typically there should be no issue with the latest version and the woocommerce cart, so I would assume that if you updated to Enfold v5.6.9 you would not have any issues. But I recommend that you test the update on a staging site since we don’t know what kind of customizations your site has. This is what I have been trying to advise so far.
    If after you update and you still have a issue due to the customizations we can examine further and try to advise, but if you just want someone to take over and update and fix any issues that are found after updating right away ASAP then codeable.io may be a good option for you.

    , I am not sure what you mean by adding the item purchase code to the NAVIGATION section if you mean adding the purchase code to the theme update panel, then this will not work because you should enter the Envato Token, not the purchase code, you should see a link to the documentation explaining further:

    if you have a old install then it will say “API” which is not the same and you will need to update manually:
    To update manually you will need to download the latest installable WP version from your Theme Forest account and upload it to your WordPress ▸ Appearance ▸ Themes ▸ Add Themes ▸ Add New

    after you choose the zip file and click install, you will see a This theme is already installed message because you are updating, you can continue
