CSS (Hexagon's and Lines)

Good Morning..

I have two questions

1) Is there a way to get a horizontal line from the title text that becomes a vertical line as per this image – http://i.imgur.com/HKrXPFS.jpg so a line that looks like the line you have when you have a sidebar, but running from the title text.

At the moment the site looks like this http://www.catalystforgrowth.co.uk/about-us/

2) I am having a little trouble making the thumbs into hexagons instead of squares. I have followed this brilliant tutorial but have had no luck: http://jtauber.github.io/articles/css-hexagon.html
