I’ve built a beautiful website with Enfold. Now I realize I need a child-theme. I’ve watched videos, read articles, installed a couple of child theme plugins “Child Theme Configurator” and “One-Click Child Theme”, and downloaded and installed enfold-child.zip from y’all.

I’m obviously missing something. When I activate any of the above, I don’t have any of my new formatting. I would prefer to not have to copy all current and future css into style.css as I hope to have this happen automatically. I also want to be set up with the “Best Practices” for a child theme.

What step am I missing to go from current css to child css so that all my current work is moved (automatically)?

    Thanks

    Hey FreshAirExhaust!

Your CSS will not be moved automatically. You will need to copy it over to the child theme stylesheet.

Or if your talking about your settings then after you activate the child theme navigate to Dashboard > Enfold > Import / Export and there will be a button for importing the settings from the parent theme.

    Cheers!

OK. What CSS files should be copied? Do I just copy within my host file manager?

    Hey!

    Check it, i did:
    – Enabled the child theme
    – Transferred the parent settings to the child theme in Theme Options > Import / Export
    – Re-saved the Theme Options
    – Re-assigned your Menus to their locations.

    THANKS. Y’all are awesome!!!

To recap, if I had simply made the Child Theme active then gone the the Enfold Child “tab” and clicked “Import Parent Theme Settings”, I would have accomplished this easily?

    Hey!

Yea but you’d still had to re-set the Menu and Widgets.
