Hi Guys,
I need some help with this bug.
The cookie modal is crawlable and by default contains enough text to throw off SEO efforts on home pages with lean content.Basically I have found that because the cookie modal contains the use of the words website several times. SO if I search for website design swadlincote, Google replaces the Meta description info with a snippet from the hidden cookie modal instead of the actual page content.
Is there anything I can do to prevent the Modal being embedded in the text of every page? Other than turning off Modals?
I will likely remove 99% of the text from the modal to help fix the problem and improve the text content on the website so Google has something more relevant to look at.I saw this issue reported by another user. I just wanted to make you aware in the simplest terms what the cause is.
Can anything be done to prevent Google reading the content of the modal in the next build of Enfold?

November 18, 2020 at 11:33 am #1261234Hey Thomas,
Thank you for the inquiry.
According to the Google documentation, we could use the data-nosnippet attribute to specify that a certain content should not be used as part of the page snippet or description.
// https://developers.google.com/search/reference/robots_meta_tag#data-nosnippet-attr
We will forward the info to our channel for further consideration and hopefully this will be added in the next patch.
Best regards,

Thanks for getting back to me about this. I imagine this needs to be added as the default html tag for each part of the modal.
Please can you let me know if this gets added to core? Otherwise I will need to go through all of the Enfold installs on my server and add the tags manually.
Thanks again,
Tom
November 20, 2020 at 4:11 pm #1261813Hi,
Thank you for the update.
We already pushed this thread to our channel for further considerations, and another report was actually opened earlier based on another thread with the same request, so the changes will probably be added in the next patch, hopefully.
Best regards,
