So I have read this thread and seem like @Blatze pointed out a valid issue. When you do fix this problem in the next version consider these user case for the eCommerce sites like ours for Default Cookie Settings:
- User should be able to add products to the cart from any external website including a direct email campaign. We send a direct link to the users via email…so once the user click a link in an email, it takes him to the cart page and the product the link will add the product to the cart.
- Affiliate Cookie Tracking – So how will the new default consent setting handle affiliate cookie tracking? We use WP Affiliate plugin that tracks but I imagine that there are several plugins out there. By default this has to work…otherwise we cannot track and credit sales to the affiliate partners
Would it NOT make sense to have ALL First Party Cookies enabled by default? That is Enfold, Woocommerce, and any plugin cookies used by the website?

After I send this email, I looked at all the plugins that set cookies and we have the following first party cookies: Woocommerce, WP Affiliates, Subscription Popups and Enfold cookies. I will check out the option to see if this work with all the plugins….
However, I would suggest your development team take a hard look at how Enfold is used by clients….and to do what. Nothing should break the site functionality by default.

Please upgrade to 4.7.3. There is a new option: Essential cookies are accepted on first page load, user must opt in.
As the rules for GDPR are quite complicated (and not really clear at the beginning) in a first step we decided to implement the strictest way to allow our users to be on the safe side – Visitors must opt in before cookies are accepted.
The new option accepts cookies, but external services that Enfold offers visitor must opt in. To initially block 3-rd party plugin cookies you can use “Additional Custom Cookies” (found in “Show advanced options” section at the bottom).
It is the decision of the website owner to select the options he needs to be complient with GDPR.

I think one can get too carried away with strictness of GDPR….and it is implementation isn’t always well defined.
OK, I will checkout the version 4.7.3 and let you know what I find in about 5-6 days.You can close this thread out. You have two options that cover the scenarios we are looking for: Accept All Cookies on Page Load, Accept Essential Cookies on Page Load.
Since we are unclear if the Essential Cookies also cover cookies for plugins other than woocommerce, we are using option #1: Accept ALL Cookies on Page Load.
