    Hi,

What is the best practice to implement GTM cookie consent modes for Enfold? My challenge is that I need the consent settings in GTM in order to know what tags to fire. So, how do I transfer the consent settings to GTM?

    Best regards.

    Hey Zest,
Thank you for your patience, but I don’t believe that you can use the GTM to track cookie consent modes, this would break the purpose of the cookie consent and GDPR since there should be no tracking until after consent.
    Please see our documentation here.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi.

I mean I want the state of the consent transferred to GTM – so if the visitor has accepted analytics and not marketing I can use that as a trigger in GTM for GA, if the visitor has approved. Compare to for instance this one works https://support.cookiebot.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003793854-Google-Tag-Manager-deployment

    Hi,
Thanks for the feedback unfortunately this is not a feature and I don’t see a way that we could easily implement it. Perhaps your best approach would be to use the Cookiebot plugin since they already offer this feature.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi,

The disadvantage to implement cookiebot is that we would loose built-in functionality en Enfold like videos and maps that cannot be shown without consent

I investigated some and actually there is actually a possibility. Every cookie consent sets a cookie already now and that setting can be defined as a variable in GTM, that variable is then used in a trigger for a tag for eg. Google Analytics tracking.

In an ideal situation the cookie content would be clearer and perhaps contain a grouping, like “Google analytics is in the group statistics and she content is like xxxxxxxxxxx||v1.0||statistics” – so there is a valuable development request :)

    Best regards
