i see there are 2 options to validate an email address in a contact form…
1) Valid E-Mail address
2) Valid E-Mail address with special charactersand off to the side it says…
Form Element Validation
When selecting “Valid E-Mail address with special characters” keep in mind, that not all E-Mail systems support this feature properly.what special characters does this second option validate out or allow vs the first option?
August 31, 2018 at 5:17 am #1003911Hey SyberKnight,
This option is for language special characters as ë and é, which may be used more in some countries than others, and typically those email systems would support the special characters.Best regards,

i have a bunch of folks who use the plus symbol in their email addresses that can’t use the Enfold contact form because it doesn’t validate.
the + is a legit symbol to use in email addresses, so… can you fix that or give me a hackaround to add it to the rules somewhere or something (in such a way that a theme update won’t overwrite)?
thanks.
September 1, 2018 at 12:30 pm #1004326Hi,
To personalize the form entry validation please use the contact form 7 plugin and the code suggested here https://contactform7.com/2015/03/28/custom-validation/
Best regards,
VinaySeptember 2, 2018 at 3:25 am #1004524really?!?! i’m surprised that you’re pointing me to use another plugin & modify it rather than just fixing the one we have that we paid for in Enfold.
plus symbols are an acceptable & common symbol used in email addresses, like dashes & periods. will you consider just fixing this error instead?
September 2, 2018 at 9:45 pm #1004717Hi,
I tried to look into this and was able to add the plus sign into the validation, but while Enfold allowed it WordPress didn’t send the email. I was not able to add the plus sign into the WordPress validation successfully.
I also didn’t find any helpful solutions with Google.
I’ve added a link to the modified contact.js in the Private Content area if you wanted to see.
It belong in \enfold\config-templatebuilder\avia-shortcodes\contact\Best regards,
