Gday Enfold forum
The contact form ‘Autoresponder text’ field creates large gaps between paragraphs when the data is received in an email client, even when using soft-returns. It appears to be at least 2 paragraph spaces per soft-return, maybe even 4 paragraph returns showing for a normal return.
I have tested the use of the break tag html in the field to try to close up the spaces to no avail, so I removed that.
Is there a known way I can have that text close up the gaps?
Here is a screenshot of the effect: http://screencast.com/t/et413kSfblR

That looks like one return to me. Are you using Thunderbird as your email client? Thunderbird by default has a lot of line height. You can reduce it by following this, http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2284007.
You can also click on the “Other Actions” button -> “View Source” to see exactly how many lines breaks are in the email.

Thanks for your help with this. I’m using Mac Mail.
Here’s a screenshot of where I have put full returns and soft returns. Most programs will display the soft returns without any space at all between them, or at least a tiny amount.
It sounds like other email clients look different? Would you or anyone reading be able to show me a screenshot of their own message spacing displaying from within another client?

February 17, 2015 at 6:36 pm #397698Hey!
I removed the extra spaces but it doesn’t seem to be working now. Go ahead and update Enfold to 3.0.8 and then delete the contact form element and create a new one.
I think if you just use one line break when typing out your auto response then it should look better.

I have had multiple upgrades since this post, but the autoresponse email spacing issue persists. Today I have made a screenshot of the issue, showing what I receive in my email client (Apple Mail): http://screencast.com/t/HrhlZWxFDZiJ
Does anyone know if there is a way to manage this spacing, my goal is to decrease the spaces.
p.s. please note that the ‘reproduction’ of the original email has correct spacing (see below the red box shown in the screenshot) .
cheers

May 26, 2016 at 2:44 am #638384Hi,
The login info is not working but in future please post your login credentials in private info for security reasons as this is a public form and any one can see your reply.
To reduce the line height please try using inline style with the auto-respond message similar to the below css.
<p style="line-height:12px"> your test here</p>
Let us know if this works :)
