I posted in the BBPress support forums and they have redirected me back to here as they suspect there is a theme compatibility issue.

June 25, 2014 at 6:45 am #283419Hi absurdity69!
No, I don’t think it’s a theme issue. I deactivated all plugins except bbpress and switched to the default TwentyThirteen wordpress theme and the topic still didn’t show up in the forum page. It would also surprise me if this is a theme conflict because we just use custom css code for bbpress and we don’t modify any loops or queries.

PeterJune 25, 2014 at 5:02 pm #283667Ok, do you understand the problem then?
The project launch date is the end of this month and I can’t believe this has just happened – I thought everything was working and fine until this happened. Where would I go to search for help?
June 25, 2014 at 5:59 pm #283693Hey!
If possible, set up a secondary WordPress install on the same server in a different folder or sub domain. Then install bbPress and nothing else and see if things work.
If so, then there might be a configuration error on the main install but you can then check back with the bbPress support with more information. Also showing that it isn’t working with any of the default WordPress themes working will help them exclude it being a theme issue the same way Peter did.
If it turns out that bbPress isn’t working on the new clean install of WordPress you’ll be able to talk to your hosting provider as well as bbPress support to find out if there are any server side specific things that need to be in place to get things to work. I don’t know of any offhand but I don’t often setup bbPress installs unfortunately.

DevinJune 25, 2014 at 6:12 pm #283700Ok thanks Devin. It seems to only fail with long posts and long replies. Short answers and short posts dont incur the same issue. Do you know why that may be?
June 26, 2014 at 1:54 am #283857It could be a memory limit or timeout error but I’ve never heard of it happening before.
