combatibility of plugins

we are planning to re-build our website for a private school. i have been recommended to use the enfold theme in subtitution to the wp.theme we use right now. from what i saw it seems to be really easy to use, even for someone used to design websites with dreamweaver for more than 20 years… but well, that’s the past!
this time we would like to include a social community for our students, not a plain forum. so students can interact with each other as well as us using it a a kind of “blog” for the school itself. we are very new to this part of wp, the only plugin i found to do this is buddypress. but i could not find this in your list of compatible plugins. but then on one of your info-sites (sorry there were so many interesting ones, i do not remember which one) sounded as if you could do a community with bbpress as well. i tried this in the past, but this was just the plain forum.
could you please let me have a quick short info if buddypress is compatible with the enfold theme.
beside this, i love the enfold theme and i have also been told that your support is great! twor reasons to be almost convinced to use it.
