    Hi,

    I have revamped my site à la the Church demo. You can see it here: https://www.hikingwithdean.com/. Following the discussion here https://kriesi.at/support/topic/events-date-in-magazine-element-not-creation-date/, I was able to modify the Magazine module (Upcoming HWD Hikes) to show the Event date instead of Publish date.

    Before I launch into a bunch of questions, here is my situation. I am importing Meetup events into TEC. These are events from my Meetup group (HWD) and several others. “Latest News” are my upcoming events (hikes), “Upcoming Events” are all the other Meetup group events (hikes)

    I was wondering if the sorting issue in Magazine module was resolved? My workaround is to just modify the publishing date of my Meetup group (HWD) events so that the publishing order is same as event time order. This is simple enough for now. But I cannot determine in discussion if there is another way. I am using the tribe categories

    On a related matter, the sorting under “Other Meetup Hikes” is not right. Does the Upcoming Events module sort by published date or TEC date? If by Pub date, my workaround above becomes unworkable due to the many groups and events generated. In the meantime, I am trying to find a way to get a Published (or Modified) date to show up in the wp-admin list of Events. That would help.

    Any advice for the sorting issues?

    Hey Dean,

    Well, the magazine uses the publish date to sort the events too. If you want some custom sort order you might want to hire someone who will so the customization for you, if the one you’re using now does not do the job for you. The magazine element was not really built to handle different sorting and category combos but I believe can be customized to do so by an experienced developer.

    Hi Victoria,

    Thanks. Just wanted to confirm there is no easy solution. Its just 5 events at a time so no biggie editing publishing date as needed. I found a plugin that might do the sorting for me (Post Types Order) but haven’t tried it yet.

    I have a related issue on “Upcoming Events” but I will save for a new thread. It may get complicated.

    Hi,

    No new thread. Don’t know how to pose question yet. Its a timezone issue between Meetup.com event imports, TEC, WP, event times and publish times. Looks like everything is in sync for now
