Tagged: broken theme, child, child theme
On a fresh install of WordPress using the new version of Enfold uploaded directly via FTP, when I try to install and use the child theme like I always have in the past, it says it is a broken theme because the parent theme does not exist.
Did the name change and a small edit to the child theme I downloaded here needs to be made? If so, what would that be or is there a new child theme download?
UPDATE!!!
The issue is simple. In the new version of Enfold you’re capitalizing the word “Enfold”. That wasn’t the case before in the theme name declaration. The child theme still has it in lowercase. You need to just capitalize the word in the style.css file of the child theme to get it to work. Devs, please update the file.
Hi,
Thank you for sharing this. I will be sure to pass it on to the devs.

Hi,
From the wordpress docs:
The Template line corresponds to the directory name of the parent theme. The parent theme in our example is the Twenty Fifteen theme, so the Template will be twentyfifteen. You may be working with a different theme, so adjust accordingly.
Since the enfold theme uses a folder with lowercase name I think the current child theme is still correct.

Günter
Sorry, but it isn’t. With the new version of Enfold, the child theme that has been out there does not work unless you capitalize the name in the stylesheet. Has nothing to do with the 2015 template. I just did another fresh install this afternoon and have the same issue.
Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, but I can’t reproduce the problem on a local installation. Where can we see and reproduce this?

This saved me from losing my mind, thank you @Kahil, your suggestion to capitalize ‘Enfold’ also worked for me. There is something going on the devs need to look at.
Hey lzevon,
I’m glad the solution was able to work for you!
