Hi, I built my Enfold website using the Construction Demo as a foundation.
I’d like to change ALL the styling of my website to the Enfold Gym demo.
I see the Demo Importer … but will this also overwrite all the Theme Setttings? I actually want it to do that. Not to just import the Demo Pages.
Will it overwrite any Custom CSS I have?
I don’t know if this makes a difference, but I have a Child Theme setup.
Thank you!July 8, 2023 at 8:38 pm #1412767Hey flylanddesigns,
If you import a new demo it will overwrite your theme settings and add pages and posts, it won’t overwrite your child theme style.css or your functions.php but you may lose your Quick CSS customizations.
I recommend creating a staging site and test how the new demo import works there first
Most cPanel webhosts have a staging site option, some in the dashboard:
Others add the option in the Softaculous WordPress Management
There may be other staging site options in different cPanel servers, these are the two that I have seen.Best regards,

MikeJuly 10, 2023 at 1:04 am #1412906OK, I tested this on a Staging site, and the new Demo worked well on my existing Enfold site.
I was about to import it for real, when I saw this message:“Importing demo content GYM Demo will overwrite your current Theme Option Settings. It is highly recommended to use a clean installation to import a demo to avoid conflict with existing content and break the import. Proceed anyways?”
Do you recommend that I first uninstall Enfold, and then reinstall it?
That makes me pretty nervous about what I might lose.I’ve made a Backup of my site, and also taken screenshots of settings.
July 10, 2023 at 3:18 am #1412908Hi,
Thank you for the update.
If you wish to retain the existing pages while adopting the style of the Gym demo, you may need to create a separate installation and import the Gym demo into it. Afterwards, you would have to export the Gym demo’s theme settings through the Enfold > Import/Export panel, specifically in the Export Theme Settings File section. Once the theme settings file has been exported, return to the live site and import the theme settings file within the Import Theme Settings File section. Please note that this process may render unexpected results, which will require manual fixing.
IMPORTANT: Please create a restore point or backup before doing any of the steps above.
Best regards,

Your response is a little confusing to me. It sounds a lot more complicated and risky than I originally thought.
I thought the purpose fo the Import Demo section in the Theme Options was designed for the purpose of swapping out different styles and applying them to your site?I did this a few years ago (switching from another Demo, to the Construction Demo).
When I tried this (switching from Construction to Gym) on my Staging site the other day, everything seemed to work.
I didn’t do a fresh install. I just imported it over my existing theme through the Theme Options menu.
Since it worked on my Staging site … shouldn’t that mean it should work on my Live site? Are we understanding each other correctly?
July 10, 2023 at 6:58 pm #1412983Hi,
We typically don’t recommend importing a new demo over your existing site for the reason of the message that you saw:Importing demo content GYM Demo will overwrite your current Theme Option Settings. It is highly recommended to use a clean installation to import a demo to avoid conflict with existing content and break the import.
the import is not just swaping styles, it is designed to give the user a starting point on a blank fresh install.
Ismael makes a good point about exporting your live theme settings as a backup and then taking the theme settings from your staging site and importing them to your lave site as a way to change the style of your site. Give this a try after making a backup.
Otherwise, since you tested on your staging site of your live install and you checked it carefully and are happy with the results then I would expect the same result for your live site.
Please create a restore point or backup before proceeding so that if for some reason the live site doesn’t produce the same results you can fall back to your current state.
Please use your webhost backup option as many “backup” plugins don’t perform as expected.Best regards,
