Hello there,
I’m currently trying to change the sort order of my portfolio entries for different subpages. Let me give you an example:
Page 1 has sort order 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 for portfolio entries A, B, C, D, E
Page 2 has sort order 4, 2, 1, 5, 3 for portfolio entries A, B, C, D, E
… etc.So basically I want to create different pages each showing some, but not all of the same portfolio entries and I want to change the sort order for each item on each page.
So on the home page I want to show all portfolio items. Then there should be a subpage where all portfolio items of category X are shown and another subpage where all items of category Y are shown.
Then again each page needs a different sort order.
Is this something that can be done with Enfold? If so: how?
Thanks a lot fort he help!

I don’t think changing of sort order for portfolio entries for subpages can be done. However I think showing of different categories in different subpages is very much possible, you just need to use Portfolio Grid and select a particular category for each page. Hope this helps :)

Can you tell me if there is any way to change the sort order of portfolio items at all? Can I give every portfolio item a different order? What does it mean when you go to a portfolio grid and it says “Order By” “Page Order”?
Thanks.

February 27, 2017 at 3:06 pm #752289Hi,
we can’t do more than guiding you to the right direction. If you follow the tutorials and other links I provided to you, then you can change the sort order. However, if you need help with this, then feel free to hire a freelance developer for this job.

AndyFebruary 27, 2017 at 3:12 pm #752291Dear Andy,
Thank you for your message. I understand what you mean, but I followed your steps to the letter and still nothing shows up which is odd.
If done correctly, this should be done within a minute. Unfortunately though I seem to have an error in thinking, otherwise I don’t get why it isn’t working.
I would really appreciate it if you could take a quick look at the functions.php file, as I seem to have missed something.
Thanks in advance!

FelixFebruary 27, 2017 at 3:27 pm #752307Hi,
at first you need to update your theme and WP, as you’re using old versions.

AndyFebruary 27, 2017 at 3:29 pm #752312Hi,
also I checked your functions.php, but can’t find the code from here anywhere. Please follow the instructions and use the code mentioned in the tutorial.

AndyFebruary 27, 2017 at 4:02 pm #752331Dear Andy,
Thanks. I will update the site. Did you check the functions.php of the Child Theme or the Parent Theme?
I used the following link: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-add-an-orderorderby-option-to-the-blogpost-sliderportfoliomasonry-grid-element/
It says in the link:
“scroll to the bottom of the option window and configure the order/orderby settings”Here is what I understood: adding this code to functions.php will give me another input field, where I can add numbers like 0,1,2,3,4 etc. and define the sort order, correct? The same way you can change the sort order for pages, correct?

before trying this code, try this one instead: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/change-the-sort-order-of-portfolio-elements/

AndyFebruary 27, 2017 at 5:16 pm #752386Dear Andy,
Thanks, I checked it out, but it seems to relate only to parameters like date, last comment etc.
What I would need is a custom field where I can put in a number to sort Portfolio items the way I want to. You know what I mean?
There is the option to sort by ID. Is it possible to change the ID? Then it would work.
Thank you,
FelixFebruary 28, 2017 at 4:14 pm #753015Hi,
you could try to work with portfolio’s slug or maybe this plugin could help: https://wordpress.org/plugins/reveal-ids-for-wp-admin-25/
Have in mind that portfolio items are a default WordPress function, not controlled by the theme itself.
Best regards,
