Hi!
Im having trouble with the categories. I have some topics in the menu like shopping, food, travel etc. When I select for example food(mad og drikke) and selects restaurant – in the left side I have placed a list of city’s – choose city (vælg by) but when choosing a city it shows all of the topics in this city where I only want it to show food in this city. I hope you understand what i’m trying to explain.
Is it possible to only show a specific topic in a city??
Best regards

I’m sorry but I’m having trouble understanding. Can you send us a link to one of your pages so we can get a better idea?
It sounds like you will need to create custom menus for each widget area and hand pick the categories you wish to display.

See this link: http://yellowdeal4you.dk/drinks/
When i’m on the page drinks and want to select a city (Vælg by) it shows me all topics (take-away, restaurant, til ham, til hende etc.) in that city.
I only want it to show drinks when you choose a city. Because we are on the page drinks, so it shouldn’t show other topics when choosing a city.

I get no results at all when I select Århus or Köbenhavn in the box to the left on this page: http://yellowdeal4you.dk/drinks/?

RikardApril 29, 2015 at 11:31 am #436594Okay that I don’t understand. When I click on city “Århus2” I get to a new page with one article that I have made. I have made a new custom menu called drinks-byer and here I have made two cities København and Århus. After doing this it only gave we articles about drinks in the chosen city. Which was what I was looking for. But the downside of this is that I have to make a custom menu for each topic Shopping, Wellness and so on, with the same cities on each menu.
By doing this, I cannot have one widget/menu on the front page called choose city – where it collects all articles in one city. This I could do before, but When i’m on a specific page it should only show one topic not all.
So – on front page I wish to make a menu where you can choose a city and it brings you to a page where all topics are together in that city.
And on a specific page like drinks – It should only show drinks ONE topic in that city.
I have made the website yellowdeal4you.dk as a deal site. So when a person goes so for example Shopping and chooses a topic they should be able to see this topic/article in a specific city.
Is there another way of doing this? Maybe i’m doing it wrong…?

This is what I get when I select Köbenhavn: http://imgur.com/ESLAnD5. When I select Århus I just get a new page without any content or error messages.

RikardApril 30, 2015 at 9:41 am #437263Hi Rikard,
How can I send you a screenshot of what I get? Can you please try to refresh the page? I have made a new menu so the city is called Århus2 where I have made one article. I have not made one for København yet. So it is only Århus that will show a new page with one article.

And on a specific page like drinks – It should only show drinks so ONE topic in that city. And not all topics in that city. Can you please help me with this?

May 5, 2015 at 5:33 am #439514Hi!
I’m still not sure I understand the actual problem your having but I think that you are looking to link to different categories, correct? To do so, all you have to do is to go Appearance–>Menus and select the category you want to link to and add it to the menu.
Cheers!
RikardMay 6, 2015 at 5:55 pm #440538Hi Rikard,
On front page I want to have a widget (dropdown menu) called “choose city”. When you click on a city for example København it should show you a page with all topics “shopping”, travel, food and so on. (Blog layout in grid – like on front page with small images to go further into a blog/article)
But when you go to a page for example Shopping -> for him (til ham) and you choose a city (small widget menu called choose city) it should only show shopping categories.
My issue is that the widget menu I created called choose city can only show all topics when choosing a city. So When I choose a city under shopping – it shows all topics not only shopping in that city.
So – I create a custom menu called Choose city. In here I have the cities called København, Odense and Århus. 3 categories. This work fine on the widget menu I want to have on front page because when I choose a city københavn it shows all topics in this city.
But it does not work when I want to split the menu up, so when choosing a topic like restaurant and choose a city – it should only show restaurant in this city.
(Only way I found out to split the menu on one pages is to make a custom menu on all topics. But then I can’t make the menu I want on the front page.)
I dont’ know how else to explain this issue. Maybe you can ask someone else if they understand my issue?
Best regards
May 8, 2015 at 2:49 pm #441528Hey!
you could try to build an extra menu for your front page using a plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/page-specific-menu-items/
