Hi,
My boss wants me to edit content on the homepage, but I am having an issue- after I edit it, I cannot save it. If I edit in the visual editor and press save, it just send me to the text editor. If I press save in the text editor, nothing happens. My changes show up if I close out of the edit window, but when I press ‘update’ on the right hand side of the page, the changes are lost and it reverts back to the way it was before. I am able to edit and save changes to all the other pages. I am confused and frustrated- I am hoping somebody can tell me what the issue is and how to fix it.
We are running the previous version, and not the most current version, of the theme. Does this have anything to do with it?
June 24, 2014 at 5:15 pm #283135Hey ryanbmoran!
Please update Enfold to the latest version 2.8.1 via FTP – http://vimeo.com/67209750
You are currently using an older version which is not compatible with the WordPress version you are using.Regards,
YigitJune 24, 2014 at 5:28 pm #283140We are wondering if updating the theme to the latest version will mess with some of the custom codes and PHP and CSS files – for example, our Apex chat feature for customers to ‘chat’ with us. Can you tell me if updating the theme will affect any of these files or any other files or plugins we have on our site?
June 24, 2014 at 5:32 pm #283141Hi!
If you are not using a child theme ( for more information, please see – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/using-a-child-theme/ ), changes you have made on theme files will unfortunately get lost. Your content, theme options etc on the other hand, are safe.
Cheers!
YigitJune 24, 2014 at 5:54 pm #283159Hi!
Thanks so much for all your help.
I just have one more question (sorry) – So if I am not using a child theme, but I have not made any custom edits to the coding of the theme, I have nothing to fear and can update the theme without penalty. If I we do have custom edits to the code, I must install a child theme before updating and to protect my custom theme edits.
Is that correct?
June 24, 2014 at 9:46 pm #283258Hey!
1- Exactly.
2- Again, exactly. You should move the files you have modified to child theme and update parent themeBest regards,
YigitJune 25, 2014 at 5:45 pm #283685Hello,
I have updated the theme successfully using a child theme, etc, and after the entire process I am still having the exact same problem with the homepage. I need to be able to save my edits to my homepage. Can you please explain to me what is going on? Updating the theme was my last idea. I have tried deactivating plugins, etc, and have had no luck figuring out what I need to do to be able to save and update the front page of my site.
It would be much appreciated if someone could please give me a clue as to what’s going on. GoDaddy has suggested that i may be a problem with the theme – I was on the phone with them for two hours trying to figure it out to no avail.
Thanks,

JosueJune 25, 2014 at 8:21 pm #283741Now we are having troubles where changes are being saved but do not appear on the page after we have logged out and attempt to view the page. This is messing with our entire website – I would really appreciate some assistance.
June 25, 2014 at 8:34 pm #283745Sorry- forget my last trouble. Got too frustrated and didn’t realize I was editing a double of the page.
Did you have to do anything special? I don’t understand why I can’t edit the page. I have done so frequently without trouble and have only been experiencing these troubles for the past few days.
June 25, 2014 at 8:35 pm #283746It is still doing the exact same thing for me as it was before- sending me over to the text editor and not saving my changes.
June 25, 2014 at 8:52 pm #283750I even logged in to your admin account and I was still unable to make any changes. It does the same thing across multiple browsers – I have tried Firefox, Chrome, and Safari – and multiple computers on different networks to no avail.
