    Hi, I’m working on my first Enfold project.
    There are footer widgets being displayed but they are no longer defined in the Widget area.
    So I can not remove the Footer area.
    These are widgets areas that were once used and they were made inactive, and still display
    This is occurring on two development sites. One is straight install, other uses Enfold-Child.
    Both sites are currently running Enfold 2.6.2 on WordPress 3.8.1

    If I put my own widgets in the footer, they override the errant widgets

    Sequence of events
    Install Enfold 2.4.5
    Learn Enfold
    Set Footer Widgets
    upgrade to 2.6
    Remove Footer Widgets
    Set Footer widgets

    Related behavior.
    There is some related behavior in the Appearance>Widget area. I have noticed when I edit a widget, the default location of the widgets gets set to inactive, so if a change is made, it has to be actively reset to the place it originally was. (I thought they were disappearing at first)
    If I try to delete an inactive widget, I get a ‘Error while saving message’
    I tried using a plugin “Business Hours” It it appears Enfold is inserting its own CSS and display is impossible to read.

    Hey Bryan!

    You can go to Enfold theme options > Footer > Default Footer Widgets & Socket Settings > Display only the socket to remove footer section. If you would like to display footer widgets empty, please insert empty text widget to footer column widget areas in Appearance > Widgets

    hello
    i have a similar problem to the last answer. i use a plugin to control which pages i want a footer widget to display in for example widget footer col #1 and that works fine. however, on some pages i have set the footer col #1 widget not to display but then some generic widget is being displayed which says : “INTERESTING LINKS Here are some interesting links for you! Enjoy your stay :)”. how do I get rid of this if there is no widget active in that col for such a page but there is a widget in that col for other pages which i want to be shown?

    Hi,
    This sounds like one of the demo widgets, please try placing an empty widget in the field, this will prevent it from showing.
