When on a post or page, I can’t click the public button to change it private in the visibility section. Same if I make a page private when initially creating it, I can’t change it to public.
February 23, 2019 at 6:45 pm #1070725Hey SAdesignsUnltd,
Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?
Which pages is it happening on?
Best regards,
VictoriaFebruary 23, 2019 at 8:19 pm #1070784It seems to be any page that is using the Avia Layout Builder. If I click add new page and don’t select ALB then the link works to change it to public or private.

VictoriaFebruary 25, 2019 at 9:18 pm #1071468Has this issue been solved? I am having the same issue with the Avia PageBuilder.
March 1, 2019 at 6:14 am #1072902Hi efrencav,
Did you try switching to the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options?
Best regards,
RikardMarch 4, 2019 at 3:31 am #1074113If you set the classic editor then it works. Also, if you use the new block editor it works. If you have the block editor on and then switch to the ALB then it doesn’t work. Looks like there is something in the ALB that is blocking those sections from working.
March 5, 2019 at 10:52 pm #1075135Hi SAdesignsUnltd,
Well, the Advanced Layout Builder is not compatible with Gutenberg, you can use either Gutenberg or Advanced Layout Builder and Classic editor.
Please, choose the option that works for you and stick to it.

VictoriaMarch 5, 2019 at 10:54 pm #1075136Hi Victoria, I understand that, The problem isn’t with the editors and using them, the issue Is just being able to switch the page visibility to private or public. When using ALB, it just doesn’t allow you to switch the options on the right side of the page.
March 8, 2019 at 11:24 am #1076293Hi,
Thank you for the clarification.
The “Visibility” settings works properly on our end, so there must be something in your installation, perhaps a plugin, that is causing the issue. We don’t see any errors in the browser console either. Have you tried to disable the plugins temporarily?
Best regards,
IsmaelJanuary 27, 2021 at 1:42 pm #1275792Wow 2 years later – it’s now Jan 2021 and I have just had the same issue.
A page was set to Private. With all plugins disabled I could not change Status to Public and/or move it to Trash. The status change just would not save.
The solution was to temporarily switch theme from Enfold to a standard WP theme – Change the page to public and/or trash – then reactivate Enfold.
Hope it works for you.
January 28, 2021 at 5:26 am #1275938Hi,
@HuxburyQuinn: Thank you for the info. We cannot reproduce the issue on our end, so it is possible that it is caused by a plugin or a custom modification in the theme. Did you install a plugin that has an option where you can control the visibility or status of the pages or posts?// https://wordpress.org/plugins/block-visibility/
Best regards,
IsmaelJanuary 28, 2021 at 6:48 am #1275983“No Plugins Active.”
I am using Child Theme.
Sorry I did not try with just the Enfold parent theme active to take any custom code in the Enfold child theme out of the equation. The original page was created with a different theme and page layout builder . The page may have had left over meta data from the previous builder.
Over 10 years on WP development and I have never seen this error before and I don’t think I can replicate or re-create it.
With ALB disabled, updating page status and deleting was restored.
Anyway this fixed my specific need to delete one page.
just hope it helps someone else in the future if they come across this issue.
As always, great theme great service
Cheers : )
