While auto-updating online version was easy, as always, local install does not want to update no matter how many times I try. This message http://sciot-deboes.be/divers/enf_upd_err.jpg keep turning hours without any effect.
I wanted to replace files manually, but didn’t find ‘files to upload’ reference. Can somebody help me with it please?- This topic was modified 10 years, 1 month ago by hexquare.
October 20, 2014 at 8:13 pm #338597Hi Alex!
Please try updating the theme via FTP – http://vimeo.com/67209750
Version 3 is a huge update and we recommend overwriting all filesCheers!
YigitOctober 20, 2014 at 9:24 pm #338648Yeah, updated via ftp an, of course, lost all customization :(
Well, I did saved some of code snippets and custom colors apart as text, but with automatic updates there was no need to go through all this again and again.Does this mean, that we won’t be able to update local files automatically anymore in a future? U see, everything else except Enfold theme updates normally. I mean plugins, woocommerce extension and wordpress itself.
I run several local (WAMP) installs of wordpress+enfold copies for test and backup purpose. All of them have problem with update from 2.9 to 3.0 (up to version 2.9.2 automatic update worked just fine) and none of them have problems with auto-updating other extensions.
Hope, you would regard it as a serious bug and fix it.Kind regards
October 21, 2014 at 8:52 am #338886Hi!
Which customization are you referring to? Theme options and Quick CSS codes should be retained regardless on how you update the theme. If the modifications are in the actual theme files, I’m sorry but we won’t be able to help you with that.
Best regards,
IsmaelOctober 22, 2014 at 2:43 pm #339476Not the quick CSS, no. I mean custom.css. With manual update I either have to know which files to update (I didn’t find detailed changelog in download package, only short description of an update), either upload complete folder.
In second case all files will be overwritten, including custom.css.Yes, one can find the way to restore that custom.css every time after updating Enfold, but that’s not what theme creators had in mind when added auto-update option to Enfold, didn’t they?

October 27, 2014 at 2:33 pm #341491Hey!
You can simply have a backup of custom.css file and after the update you can replace it. We are strongly recommending users who would like to modify theme files to use a child theme – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/using-a-child-theme/
Please consider using a child theme :)Best regards,
